A God at Work Within Us - Part Three Devotions to Produce Spiritual Growth
with Diane K Hiltz Chamberlain
Can we say that we are ready to meet God at a place, where we can truly experience His best for our lives or are we waiting for the perfect moment, to lead us in God’s direction? As we begin this morning, I would like to share a few Bible verses with you; that God led me to and they are found in Ecclesiastes 11: 3-6 and we read… “If clouds are full of water, they pour rain on the earth. Whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where it falls, there it will lie. (4) Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap. (5) As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things. (6) Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.”
Are we afraid to test the waters with God? Why do we wait for conditions to be just right, before plunging into the deep waters with God, as a means of trusting Him? I love the way that Solomon wrote these verses because he was saying that life is going to have moments of uncertainty and we may even feel like we are taking risks at times but we will never know how far we can go with God, if we are always playing it safe, while sitting on the sidelines.
Sometimes, we just need to act on faith and see where God leads us from there. Being idle is never going to get us anywhere. When we choose to quit talking about what we should do in our lives and begin to do it; then we will begin to see what God can open up before us. How many of us experience pain or other limitations in our lives…or even just a bad day and instead of pressing on, we tend to fall prey to these moments. From there, we sit and fret and wonder why God isn’t doing anything to help us but the question we need to ask ourselves today; is are we willing to meet God, at the place of our need and work with Him, as a means of allowing God to exchange these trying moments, for something better. If we are waiting for the situation to get better first…before working with God; we just may not see anything happen, when we would like it to happen.
As we begin another new week, we may face moments that seem overwhelming…to the place, where we may even feel like giving up or giving into the problem but we might as well face it…we are never going to get anywhere, on a detour road like that. Instead, we need to ask God for His strength and truly believe that He will be there, to lift us to our feet, so we can meet Him at a place, where we can work out the problem together with Him.
