Hello everyone…and a big Friday welcome, to “A New Day of New Hope Blog”…through the Risen Hope Ministries! It’s so good to have you here…and just think; we all made it through another week…praise God! My prayer for you today; is that God would truly bless your day, with His very best!
Well everyone…it’s Friday; so I thought we would just talk about whatever…whatever God lays upon my mind and heart to talk about! You know…lately, I have been struggling to feel the “oomph” in my writings…and that is because the “oomph” is being camouflaged by pain and tiredness…but today, I am going to walk way beyond it and I’m going to experience some “oomph” in this writing!
For the longest time; I have been a person who likes to joke around…even through the hard times. It’s not always easy; but there’s something about making yourself laugh; that lifts you a step higher from the awful moments of despair. For example…my right knee has been removed and now I live with a rod and a stiff leg. After this surgery was done…at first, I had a hard time accepting the loss of my knee…that is, until I realized that this leg could be used in other ways. In other words…since the knee area is flat…I now have a straight table, to sit my plate on, while eating in the living room. I’ve also learned to bend more at the waist, which has actually allowed me to flex my leg muscles…to the place that I can almost touch my head on the floor.
One thing I’ve learned, through the long and difficult years of surgeries; is that God always compensates, for whatever is taken away. I will never forget the day, when I was outside weeding some flowers and I was bent over at the waist…rather than squatting…like most people do. I guess my neighbor got a glimpse of me from her kitchen window…because it wasn’t too long before she was running out the door; to see if I was alright. I said… “Sure…just weeding my flowers.” She was amazed, as to how I could touch the ground with both hands.
God continues to lead me to the lighter side of life…a place where I can see my disability and moments of the past, in a different light…and when I can see the good through the bad; then what used to seem so bad; doesn’t seem that way anymore. One thing I truly believe in is this…laughter is the best medicine for the soul…and when we choose to take a dose of laughter…it’s amazing, as to how life can seem less overwhelming.
You know…some of us may live with chronic pain, while others live with other chronic illnesses or disabilities; but remember one thing…no matter what is counted as loss…we gain so much more, by seeing the good through the bad. Life is definitely not easy…and the things we endure can truly take a toll on us; but when we can see the lighter side of it; then we will find that life isn’t so bad.
No matter what you may be facing today; I’m not asking you to write it off and not deal with it; but I would like to encourage you to look for the lighter side of it…a place, where your mind and heart can truly find peace in God.
Well…it’s been a great week…no matter what has come my way…and I truly hope and pray that your day will be a very special one…and that you will have a great weekend! Please take care and I will hope to be back with you again on Monday morning! God bless!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
