There may be some of you today who are beginning another day of pain or deep heartache; that was left over from yesterday. Times like these can make us speechless within the heart…sometimes to the place, where we can’t even pray.
Today, as I was thumbing through my Bible…God led me to a beautiful verse in Romans 8:26, which reads… “And in the same way—by our faith—the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don’t even know what we should pray for nor how to pray as we should, but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words.”
Have you ever had a moment in your life, when the pain or deep heartache was so overwhelming; that you didn’t even know what to say to God? I wonder why we feel that we have to converse with God, in such an eloquent way, when all He longs for us to do; is simply come to Him as a child?
As I think about this…I see a child, who approaches a parent, while going through a deep moment of disappointment. That child may have tears streaming down their cheeks but that seems to be the only language that can come forth, from a deeply broken heart. In a similar way; there may be moments when all we find the strength to do is let the tears flow from within. Even though the words just don’t come…God still understands the language of tears and will not only hold us close, during these hurtful moments; but He will also interpret those tears and pray on our behalf. What a God; that He would love us, in such a way!
No matter what you may be facing today…go to God as a child and let Him hold you close and be everything; that just seems to be too painful for you to be on your own. He will be everything…for everything you need…I know!
As we spend a little time together today, I would like to share a couple of very favorite Bible verses with you, which are found in Psalm 112:7-8, which reads… “He does not fear bad news, nor live in dread of what may happen; for he is settled in his mind that Jehovah will take care of him. 8) That is why he is not afraid but can calmly face his foes.”
I don’t know about you…but those two verses instantly speak “hope” to me! You know…I remember many times in my life, when I used to allow fear and dread, to take over my mind and heart; to the place, where I couldn’t sleep at night or sometimes even function throughout my day…that is, until God allowed these two verses to spring up within my heart.
Just think…when we come to a place in our lives, where we truly know that God will take care of us; then these thoughts alone actually causes “fear and dread” to stop powerless within their tracks; but when we feed into “fear and dread,” by attaching ourselves to a problem…we soon find that we have also attached ourselves to the symptoms of the problem.
I guess the question we need to ask ourselves is this…do we truly believe in God and the power He holds within Himself? If we don’t; then we are only going to find ourselves walking down a path of negative thinking…completely controlled by Satan.
Today, if we want to experience a true and lasting peace within our lives; then first, we need to know without a doubt; that our God will always be there to care for us. Once we truly come to this realization; that is when “fear and dread” will become a thing of the past.
As we begin this brand new day together…let me give you an ounce of hope; that I pray will keep you pressing on…no matter what may come your way.
As I’ve been sitting here…thumbing through my Bible…God led me to a verse in Hebrews 13:8, which reads…“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” All I can say from there; is what hope! Just think…no matter what happens in our lives; God’s strength…power and love remains the same…whether we faced a difficult moment in the past…the present or even in the days to come.
One thing that has always helped me over the years; is to reflect back on God’s goodness, while walking through some difficult times because when we can look back and remember a moment, when God was faithful in our lives; then this will become hope…and a reminder that He does have the power His word talks about…a power that can once more help us, during a time of need.
No matter what you may be going through today…don’t succumb to the thoughts of these present moments; but rather, look back through the file box of your thoughts and find a time in your life, when God had brought you through a very trying time. From there…think about every move God made on your behalf, to bring you through that difficult time…and I’m sure from there; that you will begin to focus more on what God is about to do, rather than what the problem is doing to you.
Are you feeling alone, in the circumstances that are surrounding you right now? Do you feel as though no one could ever understand the difficult moments you’re facing? If so, let me encourage you today…that there is a God who loves you so much…a God, who can easily come down to your level and be with you, so you don’t have to walk through these moments alone.
You know…since I have found a close and clear connection with God, I have found so many things. I have found God to be my spiritual physician, who was not only able to heal my hurting body and relieve my pain…but a physician who could mend my broken heart and pick up all the pieces that I never thought would ever go back together again. I not only found a God who could heal and restore my life but a God who I could talk to…a God who would become a close friend and never walk away; but would always understand each spoken word that I said to Him.
Today, you may be feeling alone, in moments that can make you feel unwanted and abandoned by others but I have a friend that I would like to refer you to and His name is Jesus Christ. We may not be able to experience a physical touch from Him…through a loving hug; but one thing I definitely know…He will touch your heart in a way that will allow you to feel His presence…at a time, when you feel so overwhelmed by life.
One of my favorite Bible verses that I’ve carried with me, throughout the past twenty-five years, is John 14:18, which reads…“No, I will not abandon you or leave you as orphans in the storm—I will come to you.” Today, you may be experiencing a painful moment within your life; that seems as though it will never come to an end. No matter what…just know that God is there for you. How many times do we feel the need to wait for God to approach us…when all along, He has been standing before us, with arms opened wide.
You know…the day to day struggles have a way of overwhelming us…to the place where we desire to give up but one thing I’ve learned in life is this; giving up only allows Satan to win, which only keeps the control stick to our lives in his hands. Even though the storms of this life can be fierce and the trials long; just know that there is a God, who will walk out onto the stormy waters…that continually surround you… and once He reaches you; He will remain with you, until the difficult moments cease to rage within your life no more.
As we begin this brand new day, we can find it so easy to become involved in the moments that seem to hit us head on. Our minds can become so connected to everything that may be going wrong at the moment; that we soon find that our thoughts and hearts have been completely side-tracked, from a God who can truly bring us through these difficult times.
In 2 Timothy 2:4, we read… “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” If someone is headed off to war, I would think that the first thing this soldier would aim to do; would be to focus on the one who is in charge, rather than becoming involved in the affairs of a war that they don’t fully understand. It only makes sense that if this soldier wasn’t willing to follow his commander; then he could fall into all kinds of dangerous traps that may not only harm him but others too.
In a similar way, when we choose to become tangled up in moments that we really don’t fully understand; then these moments can possibly lead us into more trouble; then what we may be experiencing already.
As we walk through this day, we need to take our problems and the things that we may face during the day; to the One who sees and knows all things. We may know what is before us; but God can see what’s happening way down the road, which can keep us from walking through moments of needless suffering.
No matter what you face in this day…take it to God and let Him walk you through the difficult times, rather than getting caught up in the affairs, of a problem that may only lead to further problems down the road.
