Remaining Free from Bondage...

10/15/2018

One thing that has always baffled me is this…why do we spend so much time waiting on God to help us…only to be set free and go back to the place, where we were once in bondage? In Galatians 4:9, we read… “But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?”

I don’t know how we do it; but we tend to enjoy a moment of freedom…when Christ sets us free from a circumstance; then somehow, we find ourselves wondering back into the muck and mire of despair once more. How is it that we choose to go back to a place; that we longed so much to be free from?

I think that the problem stems from not staying strong, through a personal and close relationship with God. We need to remember that even though we are set free; that doesn’t mean that Satan will not attempt to drag us back, to a place where he can continue to control our lives.

Through my own circumstances, I have truly come to see that once Christ sets us free; then that becomes the time, when we need to let God rebuild our lives, from a place of weakness, to a place of renewed strength. As God strengthens us through the circumstance; that is when we become stronger and less vulnerable, to the ways of evil…which will keep us away from that prison cell of despair.

Today, if you feel as if you are being dragged back and forth by evil; then maybe it’s time to let God work through your weaknesses…and one thing I can say for sure…as you work with Him…a new heart will begin to replace the heart of weakness and this heart will keep you strong and it will stablish you and keep you distant, from the one who longs to make you distant, from the God you love!
