I remember the many moments in my life, when I felt as though I was hanging onto God by a thread…one that felt as if it was always about ready to break. It seemed like the moments of affliction I was facing were taking such a toll on me; that I felt as if I was going to end up in a place, where I just might not be able to return from again.
One thing that God has shown me over the years; is that when we are His children…we may have times when we fall and may even become wounded from the fall; but at the same time, God is still controlling each difficult moment we face…and will always keep us from falling deeper into a pit of total destruction.
In Psalm 37:23-24, we read… “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.”
One thing I’m sure we all agree on today; is that life isn’t perfect and Satan is going to be lurking around…seeking some weakness to prey on; but even though he attempts to have control over our lives; there is One that is greater and will always be greater than evil…One that can hold us up above a pit of destruction and can sustain us throughout the difficult times we face.
Recently, I have truly experienced God’s sustaining power, as I sit here and write with chronic pain and extreme tiredness. Many times I think I should be dead…just from the pain alone; but never once has God allowed anything to take me down. In fact, I have truly experienced moments that make me feel lifted up and closer to Him and that is because He is in control.
We need to remember that we serve a big God, with a strong hand…a hand that can actually keep us lifted high above despair. Have you ever been through an experience, where you should have been dead right now or something worse should have happened to you? Well…these are the moments, when God is lifting you up and suspending you above the pit of destruction that Satan had planned for you.
No matter what you walk through…and no matter how long you walk through it; just know that there is a God, who has His eye on you and He will never allow you to end up in a pit of total destruction; for if He did that; then everything He died for would be in vain.
