Good evening everyone! Happy Wednesday night…and a big welcome to the Heart to Heart Blog! I’ll tell you…this has been a fast moving day…but a good one! Have you ever taken some time out of your day…just to see what God is up to in your life? Well, I didn’t plan my day this way; but it was amazing what He showed me, as my morning came to an end.
Today was my day to go grocery shopping, which can sometimes be quite the event. If you’re not used to taking a taxi to the grocery store…it can turn into an experience that you may not forget.
After getting up and around early this morning, I called the taxi service and set up a time, for me and my husband to go grocery shopping. While I was on the phone, I asked them not to come earlier than that, which they sometimes do; as I needed to finish a few things before going shopping.
Once I had set up an appointment with the taxi service, I decided to spend some time with God and post a few things on Twitter. After finishing, I began to turn the lights and computer off, in my office and get ready to head out the door. Within a short time, the taxi driver was pulling into the driveway and we were on our way…and then the shopping began. It felt so good, to just get out of the office for a bit, and walk around the store…real quiet and peaceful like.
After finishing our shopping, Keith and I decided to wait outside and get some fresh air. Once we found a place to park the cart of groceries, I called the taxi service back and told them that we were ready to be picked up. Well…he was on the road and was unable to come at the time; so he mentioned that he would get someone there shortly. As Keith and I waited…that word “shortly” seemed to be very long.
Just as I was about to call the taxi service back, my phone rang and it was the taxi driver…saying that all the cabs were out on the road and that he would have to have another taxi service come and pick us up, which was supposed to be a friend of his. From there, he mentioned that it would only be about 10 minutes…or should I say 10 very long minutes.
As Keith and I were thinking about calling our taxi service, to see what may have happened…here came the taxi cab. I looked both ways and didn’t see anyone else waiting for a ride; so I said to Keith excitedly…this must be for us.
As the taxi driver pulled up…he didn’t seem to know if we were the ones he came for. In fact, my husband was starting to put the groceries in the back of the taxi, when all of a sudden the taxi driver said to me…“no, you’re not the ones;” so my husband began to unload the groceries back into the cart…and then I heard the taxi driver say…“oh yes…you are the ones.” Lol. From there, I was beginning to wonder, if he would be able to get us home or if he just might take us somewhere else…lol.
Anyways…we finally got the groceries loaded and Keith said…”go ahead and get in the taxi;” so I did; but as I began to close my door, the inside of the door almost came off in my hand…then after finally getting the door closed, the taxi driver was talking with me so much; that he almost drove off without Keith.
As we finally headed for home…I thought to myself; I just want to go home…but you know what; through all these overwhelming moments this morning, I can say that I truly learned something out of all of this and that is to not focus on everything that can go wrong in a day; but instead…we should focus on all God did, to bring us through those moments of struggle.
You see…I think that we become so caught up, in everything that goes wrong; that there’s no room in our day, to see how God brought us through it all. I believe that when we can see the good through the bad; then our moments of complaint, will truly turn into moments of praise, which will draw us closer to God, while defeating the works of darkness.
Well…I don’t know what kind of a day you had; but I had a day that actually taught me more; then what I knew, when I walked out the front door this morning. No matter what we face; God always seems to give us a glimpse of His presence through it all…that is, if we are willing to look for it, while walking through our day.
I hope that you have enjoyed our time together tonight…I know I have and as we rest for the evening, I pray that you will truly experience the loving and caring spirit, of a God who longs to be everything…for every little thing you need!
Take care and I hope you will join me again tomorrow evening, for more thoughts from the day, along with the goodness of a great, loving and powerful God…heart to heart!
Blessings so much on your night…and have a great Thursday!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
