Good evening everyone! Welcome tonight to the Heart to Heart Blog! I hope that your day has been a good one! It’s been a great day for me! Much has been accomplished and now I’m sitting in my office, with my feet up…listening to some soft Christmas music thru my headset, while I visit with you.
You know…it’s hard to believe that we are only 5 to 6 days away from Christmas…especially when I look outside my window and see it raining, rather than snowing…but I guess that I can’t complain because I’d rather walk on raindrops; then ice or snow.
The other day, I was thinking about Christmas and my thoughts were reminiscing back, to when I was younger and how the kids in the neighborhood would all get together and go Christmas caroling. After we finished, we would all go back to my house, where my mother had hot chocolate and Christmas cookies waiting for us. I also remember the small fireplace we had at Christmas; that was made out of cardboard and behind the cardboard flame, there was a light that would turn around and make it seem like there was a fire burning in that cardboard fireplace. In fact…it seemed so real to all of us kids; that we would all sit around this little fireplace and actually feel like we were warming up, after being outside.
One thing I can tell you tonight; is that I’m just an old fashioned gal and I just love everything, from what I now think of, as the good old days. You know…it seems like Christmas has lost its spirit. There seems to be no more Christmas caroling and the world seems so caught up in the materialistic part of Christmas; that these things and more have taken away the feeling I once felt as a young girl.
One other thing I remember, as a young girl; was going into this small town; that wasn’t too far, from where we lived and it was a big thing, to drive thru the town and see all the Christmas lights…then my two brothers…my sister and I would go into what some people may not remember, as a dime store. When I walked into the store, the wooden floors would creak, while the smell of popcorn filled the air. Right about now, you are probably thinking…how old is this Diane? Lol. I’m not going to share my age; but all I can say, was that those were some good times.
You know…I was just thinking; that even though this world may change, along with the old things of the past…isn’t it good to know that God and all His ways never change. Even though the Bible was written so many years ago; God’s word still remains alive and active, for all who choose to seek after it. Just think…no one can add or take away, from what God has shared with so many over the years. His promises will always remain true and the stories that have touched our lives and have become an example of hope will continue to live on…to help…encourage and draw us closer to God.
Well…it’s about time for me to go…especially since this soft Christmas music is about to put me to sleep. I hope you enjoyed this time together, as much as I have! Also…tomorrow, I hope you will come back and check out my “Inspiration for the Heart” page, as I will be posting a short audio Christmas message. Take care and may God truly be with you, until we meet again tomorrow evening…to share the goodness of another day…heart to heart!
Blessings on your night!
