Good evening everyone! Welcome tonight, to the Heart to Heart Blog! I am so thankful for this time with you right now…especially after a busy day! You know…there’s nothing like spending some quiet moments alone with God…and you too! What a way to relax and let go of everything from the day!
Right now…I am sitting here in my office, with my feet up. The lights in the office are dim and I’m listening to one of my favorite hymns… “I’d rather have Jesus.” Actually this song came to my thoughts, while I was getting around for the evening.
As I was finishing up in the bathroom earlier, my husband had just brought in the mail and he was mentioning that he had just talked to our neighbor. They had just gotten back from a snowmobile trip and now they’re talking about going to the Bahama’s in February. As I was listening to what my husband was saying, I was thinking to myself…Lord, why do we struggle, while others seem to be so blessed. Here these people aren’t even Christians…sad to say and here we are Christians and yet we struggle with health issues and other things, while they enjoy life. Immediately following that thought; God reminded me of this song…and it seemed that within no time, I was saying… Yes Lord, I’d rather have You than anything that this world can offer me.
You know…the paths we travel down as Christians can seem hard…long and narrow, with obstacles constantly getting in our way; but eventually, this path will lead us to a better place, for all of eternity…and most of all, we will be with Jesus forever…wow!!
While I’m on this subject, I’d like to do something a little different tonight and share a couple Bible verses with you; that just came to my thoughts, which are found in Matthew 7:13-14, which reads… “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.”
I don’t know about you; but I’d rather be on the narrow path that is going to lead me to Jesus, rather than having everything now, with nothing later. The obstacles can sometimes seem almost impossible to get over and the path may seem almost difficult to pass thru; but I know that my God will be there, to pull me thru the tight places and lift me up and over each obstacle I face.
As the song says… “I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold; I’d rather be His than have riches untold; I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands; I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand. Than to be the king of a vast domain or be held in sin’s dread sway; I’d rather have Jesus than anything this world affords today.”
Tonight I’d like to thank you for joining me, for this very special writing…sent by God Himself; to encourage and uplift us this evening! I hope you enjoyed this word of encouragement…just as I have!
Take care and have a good night and may each moment of your night, be filled with the peace that only comes from the Prince of Peace! I hope to see you again tomorrow night, as I share something special from my day, along with the goodness of a great…loving and powerful God…heart to heart!
Blessings on your night!
