Happy Sunday evening everyone…and a big welcome tonight, to the Heart to Heart Blog…through the Risen Hope Ministries! I am so glad to have you back with me this evening and I pray that while we are spending some time together with God tonight; that we will truly find a piece of hope that we can hold to and carry with us, throughout the week ahead!
Today was a great day, of time alone with God and some much needed rest! How is it that when we’re tired; it seems like our sleep time goes so fast? Usually, when I lay down on Sunday afternoon, I sleep for about 3 hours. I turn the phone off…the alarm off and I let go of everything, so I can get some rest and be renewed, for another week ahead. One thing I’m trying to figure out though; is how is it that I wake up…just when I need to get up, without an alarm clock? Between you and me…I think its God waking me up…as though to say, “Come on Diane…there’s work to be done.”
After a few hours of sleep this afternoon, I woke up…right in the middle of a dream…sat straight up and stared at the clock ahead of me and thought…oh no, my sleep time is over…and from there, you probably know how it goes. We try to convince ourselves that we need more rest and that just maybe we could lie back for a little bit more time…but to be honest with you, I don’t think that was what God had in mind.
Anyways…isn’t it amazing how our thoughts can take us down a different path; then the path we should actually be on? It seems that when Satan sees a weak point in our lives, he feasts on it and attempts to convince us…through our thoughts; that we either can’t make it or we need to give in for a while. But do we realize that moments such as these, will only give the control over to Satan, rather than God?
Over the weekend, I celebrated a 6 year anniversary, with someone that my husband and I have been supporting internationally. The only way we could celebrate of course, was over the phone; so as we began our celebration time; I said to my friend… “Why don’t we share one good memory together; that we could either praise God for or laugh about.” My friend agreed and after I shared a few funny times from the past, I said… “Ok…it’s your turn.” I got laughing so hard, after my friend responded and said… “The only thing I can remember; is how these years have aged me and made me into an old person.”…and by the way, this old friend of mine is only 41…lol.
Later, as I thought about our conversation over the phone…I not only laughed but thought on how easily we can convince ourselves of things that either aren’t true or haven’t happened yet. In other words, we can talk ourselves into actually becoming what our thoughts are trying to convince us of, which only makes way for Satan to step in and work even more…just by the way we think and speak?
I have come to see that our thoughts and words can bring better things into our lives; but on the other hand, they can also allow us to open the back door to our hearts; so Satan can step in and do more damage; then what God ever intended for us to experience in this life.
You know…it’s good to joke around and have fun about our age or other things similar to this; but when we actually allow our words to convince ourselves, of things that have not or may never happen; then we are only opening ourselves up to needless suffering.
One thing we need to remember, as we begin another new week; is to be careful what we think and speak; because God is not only listening…but Satan is too. As you walk thru your week…only let God’s thoughts enter your mind; that they may become positive words that keep you pointed in His direction.
Well…I don’t know about you…but I have truly been rested and renewed in God’s presence today and I’m now ready to anticipate the good things that only and truly come from God!
Tonight…I pray that you find rest, in the presence of a loving and peaceful God…and may your Monday be filled with the best that God can only offer you! Take care and I will hope to be back with you again tomorrow evening, as I share more thoughts from the day, along with the goodness of a great, loving and powerful God…heart to heart!
Blessings so much on your night…and this brand new week!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
