Good Wednesday evening everyone! Welcome tonight, to the Heart to Heart Blog! Today has been quite the struggle for me, as I have been a little ill and have still been living with bouts of chronic pain; so I thought that maybe tonight, we could encourage one another…and reach out to a God, who can truly help us through these difficult times of struggle.
When I first started experiencing chronic pain in both of my legs, it seemed like it was only during the daytime…and believe it or not…once I was able to go to sleep, I was able to wake up feeling better, than the night before. Now…since the first part of winter, I have been experiencing a lot of pain at night, which only keeps me tossing back and forth all night, with tiredness in the morning.
How is it that we have the most powerful being as our God; but yet, we continue to face these struggles? Why can’t God just snap His fingers and make it all go away? I know that God has His reasons, for everything we go through in this life; but after hours of pain…or even deep heartache; it’s not always easy to see it that way.
Tonight, as I was thumbing through some Bible verses, I came across a verse in Romans 8:28, which reads… “And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans.” One thing that caught my eye with this verse; is that when we truly love God and are in sync with Him and the plans He has for our lives; then we don’t have to question Him; because we will just know that He will work everything out for our good. To me…that should give us a settled feeling…knowing that God knows what He’s up to and that He will never allow anything to go beyond what He desires for our lives.
As I continued my search for more words of comfort, in God’s word…I was reminded of a favorite Bible verse in Acts 17:27, which reads…“His purpose in all of this is that they should seek after God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us.” You know…it could be that we don’t always find instant relief from our moments of affliction, because God is using these difficult moments, to remind us that we need Him…not the problem. In other words…are we going to choose to remain in the dark moments of circumstance and allow the problem to bring us further down or are we going to feel our way towards God…even if it means crawling all the way…knowing that when we find God…He will be there to free us from these moments of despair. We need to remember that God is always near; but at the same time, are we choosing to go in the direction of Him or the problem?
You know…there have been days, when the pain has had such control over my mind; that by the end of the day, I have come to see that I had barely called out to God for help. Maybe it’s that we take these moments for granted…thinking that God can read our minds, which He can…but you know what, I truly believe that He is wanting to not only know what is on our minds; but I also believe that He is mostly wanting to hear from us…and in this way, we are truly letting Him know that we need Him so very much.
You know, I was just thinking…maybe the times, when we don’t always call out to God for help…only show us that we have unknowingly taken the hand of the problem and have allowed this problem to drag us around, while making us believe that God has forgotten us? Maybe we just need to slow down…take a deep breath and think to ourselves…who am I following after…God or this problem…and I’m sure that our hearts will reveal the answer to that question.
Well…I don’t know about you…but this time with you this evening, has truly opened my eyes, to several things and has become a reminder, of how much I will ALWAYS need God in my life. It doesn’t matter who we are…we all fall prey to these moments of weakness because we aren’t perfect; but what is important…above all else; is that we make the right connection with God and if that connection gets broken…through pain and heartache; then we need to disconnect ourselves, from a problem that only longs to defeat us and reconnect with a God, who can be everything, for every little thing we need.
Well…I hope that you will have a night that is truly surrounded by the peaceful…loving and caring presence of God! Take care and have a great Thursday and I will hope to be back with you again tomorrow evening, for more thoughts from the day, along with goodness of a great, loving and powerful God…heart to heart!
Blessings so much on your night!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
