We all have times in our lives, when we scratch our heads and wonder what good thing can come out of pain and deep heartache. I know that I felt this way…and always wondered what could ever come out of these very discouraging moments.
Finally, I began to see that these moments of sorrow and pain were actually going to produce something better; then if I didn’t experience these difficult moments at all. In Ecclesiastes 7:3, we read… “Sorrow is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.”
We all have heard…one time or another, the saying… “No pain…no gain.” Who would have ever known how true that saying really is, unless they first had gone through a very hard and difficult time in their life?
As I look back on my own life, I can see where the sorrow…pain and loss truly produced something even greater in my life, than before the trial began. It’s just that sometimes; it’s not always easy to visualize any kind of gain in our lives…when pain is racking our bodies or deep heartache is tearing us apart.
One thing I had to do in my life; was come to the place where I was willing to look through God’s eyes, rather than through the eyes of a weak circumstance. Once I began to turn my attention, in God’s direction; that is when I truly began to witness what He could do, through these very trying moments in my life…and by experiencing the hard times; I finally came to see that “Sorrow is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.”
