Hello everyone! Welcome today, to Moments Spent with God…through the Risen Hope Ministries! I pray that your day is off to a good start and that you will truly experience the powerful presence of God in your life today!
Why do we fear the worst and why do we dread the most? Have we allowed our view of the circumstances in our lives, to become greater in our minds and hearts; then the work that can easily be accomplished, through a great and powerful God?
Today, I was refreshing my mind on a couple Bible verses, which have truly meant so much to my heart and they are found in Psalm 112:7-8, which reads… “He does not fear bad news, nor live in dread of what may happen. For he is settled in his mind that Jehovah will take care of him. That is why he is not afraid, but can calmly face his foes.”
Whenever I hear these verses…this is what comes to my mind every single time. Here is this person and they have nothing on their mind. They are settled back in a recliner…enjoying their life, in the midst of whatever…knowing that there is someone greater watching over them.
You know…those who do not have God in their lives, definitely have a reason to worry because when a person shuts God out of their heart; then the power and peace that is contained within this powerful God; is shut out of their hearts too. On the other hand…for those who have invited God to live within their heart; this should not be a time for worry or dread. There should be no question in our minds, as to whether God will take care of us and the situations that were facing. In fact, we should have peace of mind…just knowing that God lives within us and is more than able to care for every need that may enter our lives.
I have come to see that the one who is relaxed and is calmly facing the situation that has entered their life; is the one who has truly come to know God, in a very real way. I remember a time in my own life, when I would fall apart so easily, when something went wrong. In fact, I would sit up half of the night…trying to figure things out…which I never did accomplish and in the end, all I got out of it was a sleepless night. Now…after years of needless suffering, I have come to see a God, who truly longs to shower His peace upon us…as though He is placing a comforter on us, while putting our minds at ease, so we can rest in Him.
You know…God’s already offered to comfort us…sustain us and most of all bring us through these troubled times; but do we really believe He can do this? Sometimes I think that we go deeper into despair, just by the way we think and react to our circumstances. In other words, when we worry or continue to dread the worst that could happen; then I believe that we are opening doors to our hearts, where Satan can step in and fill in the blanks, to that so-called desire of our hearts.
If we truly know the God that lives within us; then we will allow Him to exchange worry for peace and thoughts of dread, for thoughts that anticipate His next move. You know…I have come to see that we become the strongest, when we walk beyond worry and dreadful thoughts, to focus on the power of a God, who is so much greater than our weaknesses. Why would God ever desire to move into our hearts, if first, He didn't think we would ever need Him? We’ve read about the power that was displayed through the miracles that His Son performed…along with the power that brought His Son from the grave; but yet we weaken Him in our own lives?
Today, I pray that we won’t have to force ourselves or convince ourselves, to believe in this powerful God; but instead, I pray that we will come to have that settled back feeling; that puts our minds and hearts at ease…just knowing without a doubt; that God will always be there to care for us.
Blessings on your day!
