Have your problems become your own, rather than God’s?

Moments Spent with God with Diane K Hiltz Chamberlain
Hello everyone! Happy Friday and a big welcome to Moments Spent with God…through the Risen Hope Ministries! I pray that your day is off to a good start and that you will truly feel the presence of God…walking close beside you today!

Have you ever wondered why we always feel the need to take the place of God, when it comes to a problem in our lives? Don’t we know that we are only wasting our time, with a problem that’s just too big for us to handle on our own?

Quite some time back, I wrote a small quote that goes a little like this… “Safety is not found in the absence of danger; but rather, safety is found in the presence of God.” Why do we feel that if we can escape the difficult moments or figure them out on our own; that we will be safe and free from the problem that’s standing before us? Don’t we realize that no matter what we do, to escape the problem…that it’s just going to be tagging along right behind us?

You know…it’s so easy to want to treat a problem, as though it doesn’t exist. I guess we think that if we can just walk away from it; then it will fade into the background of our lives; but that just isn’t true…believe me, I know!

For many years of my life, I tried to ignore a past sexual abuse; that took place at a very young age in my life. After a while, I had pushed the memory down so far; that it became buried deep within the heart. Even after moving over 2500 miles away from my hometown, to be with my husband…it still followed me and began to root deep within my life; but a day eventually came, when the memory began to resurface…and before I knew it…it was once more standing before me. I came to see that there was no quick fix and that I needed a big God to resolve this overwhelming problem in my life.

I guess what I’m trying to say to you today; is that God is the only safe haven and remedy, for the problems we face in this life. We need to remember that even though Satan isn’t more powerful than God…that he is powerful and the problems that he afflicts us with are still too powerful for us to handle alone. Instead, we need a power that is greater than the power of evil…to fix what’s been deeply embedded within our lives…and running in a different direction, to hide from these problems…or trying to seek refuge on our own…just will not work.

Through my own difficulties in life, I have come to see that the main root or “thorn of affliction” that was placed upon us by evil can only be uprooted by God…for He knows just the right remedy for our problem and His presence alone, will keep evil away, as He works to create a cure that will not only heal us of our infirmity; but a cure that will make a lasting impression on our lives and change our lives forever.

As I look back on my life, I’m not going to say that overcoming this sexual abuse was easy; but I am going to say that I would definitely not be where I am in life today; if it wasn’t for the lessons learned, through the healing of a powerful God!

No matter what you’re facing today…don’t try to go it alone because you will quickly find that you will be flat on your face before your problem. Instead, turn to a God, who is rich in strength and might…a God, who will work on your behalf…to heal and restore you back to Him.
Blessings on your day!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
Diane
