Hello everyone and welcome back, to another week of “Moments Spent with God!” I hope you are enjoying this Christmas season and I pray that we all will truly find room for God in our hearts, as we celebrate Christmas!
As I’ve been sitting here in my office…thinking about Christmas, one of the first things that has come to my mind; is the gift of love that was shown to us thousands of years ago…a gift of love that keeps on giving…no matter what we face in life.
Throughout the many years of pain and heartache that I have experienced within my own life, one thing I have truly come to learn and understand; is the true meaning of love. You know…it’s so easy for us to speak words of love to one another but what do our actions show? Do they show a love that lays itself down; so that another person can have life a little easier or is it an artificial love that is limited, in how it portrays itself to others?
Usually, on “Moments Spent with God;” I just talk about what is on my heart, while spending quiet moments alone with God but today, I would like to share a couple Bible verses with you; that have truly brought my life alive and they are found in John 15:12-14, which reads… “This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. (13) Greater love hath no man than this; that a man lay down his life for his friends. (14) Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.”
Do we realize that when we give a true gift of love, from ourselves to another person; that we are actually giving an additional gift with that gift of love and that is the gift of experiencing a perfect love that only comes from God?
At Christmas, we can find it so easy to get wrapped up in giving gifts that come from a store but just think what kind of a gift we would be giving to another person, when we give them a gift of love…a gift that can continue on, in years to come.
How many of us receive something for Christmas and find that within a short time, we are either storing it away or maybe it’s gotten broken or maybe it’s become a part of our everyday lives; to the point that we don’t enjoy it, in the way it was first given? Do we realize that a gift of love will not only keep giving but it will become a memory that is etched within the mind and heart of another person…a memory that will always be carried with them through life.
I can say that I have truly come to a place of contentment within my life and if you were to ask me what I’d like for Christmas…I wouldn’t know what to say because you see…I have found a true love that has satisfied my soul, to the place where I don’t long for anything else in my life.
This year, I have taken time to soak in the true spirit of Christmas and connect with a God, who loves me so much; that He sent His only Son into this world, to become my yearly gift for Christmas. You see…He has become everything I need; to the place, where I don’t have a need for anything but Him.
You know…it really doesn’t matter what we receive this Christmas because in my eyes, we have already received the best gift we could ever have…a gift that keeps giving throughout the year and that gift is Jesus Christ.
Have a great day & God bless!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
