Hello everyone and welcome back to Moments Spent with God! I am so happy to have you here with me and my prayer today, is that we all will truly find a connection with God; that will help us, as we walk through another week with Him.
As we begin our visit today, let me ask you a question. How many times do we view our circumstances and see them as something that is so big and overwhelming; that we end up falling before them, rather than a powerful God?
Over the weekend, Keith and I were watching a YouTube movie on David and Goliath. I have to tell you that this was the best movie for me to watch at the time because it became a reminder to me, on how we can easily be caught up in our circumstances…to the place where we fall prey to them and limit God’s power and strength.
As I was watching this movie, I began to easily see how Saul and his soldiers were so fixed on the size of Goliath and the strength he was portraying to them; that they lost faith in what their powerful God could do, as a means of overcoming the situation they were facing.
As David began to enter the place where they were, I saw someone with great faith…a faith that was more focused on what His God could do, to overcome the circumstance that stood before them. Just think…if David would have been tightly focused on the size and strength of Goliath; then the power of God probably wouldn’t have been there for him, which would have probably caused David to be defeated.
I can’t even begin to imagine what it must have been like, when David walked down to where Goliath was? Here he was small in stature, while Goliath must have seemed like this oversized giant before him. With only a few small stones and a slingshot, David brought down this giant of a man; but it wasn’t with his own strength or the stones that were thrown from a simple slingshot but rather, it was the power of God that had entered the stones. As God’s power entered the stones that were thrown in Goliath’s direction, God’s power brought Goliath to the ground. As the soldiers witnessed the power of what their God had done, this moment became a reminder to them, to not lose faith, in what their God could do.
When are we going to stop sizing up the problems that stand before us and begin to believe in the limitless power of God? We may feel as if our problems are giants standing before us and we may feel as if the weight of our problems could crush us and destroy us; but we must get our focus back on a God that is much greater and more powerful in strength, than these weak circumstances that stand before us.
Right now, you may be experiencing a situation in your life that seems so overwhelming and out of control. The discouraging moments that stand before you may be attempting to convince you that you will never be able to overcome them…and you may even feel, as if they will eventually defeat you. Just remember one thing…when our focus is fixed tightly on the limitless power of God, rather than what the problem is attempting to convey to us; then even though our strength may be gone…a strong and powerful God will begin to step into these moments and bring evil to its knees.
Blessings on your day…
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
