Hello everyone! I hope that you are having a good start to your day! Normally, I would be writing something from God’s heart to mine…on Moments Spent with God; but since it is Friday, I thought that I would relax a little bit and share something very special…from my heart to yours.
For the longest time, I have collected stuffed moose and bear, while traveling back home to Michigan. Most of my collection comes from Montana and even into Idaho and Washington State.
Anyways…for the longest time, I have had one of my stuffed moose in the windowsill of my office window. Over time, my part-time assistant and I began to call him Mr. Moose and he kind of became the mascot of our ministry. Then as more time passed, we started having a pair of raccoons enter the yard and of course…all kinds of squirrels and birds; so then we began to have names for them too…never realizing what God might be up to.
Over time, I mentioned to my assistant and my husband that maybe someday, we would do some kind of book for children with these characters. Before I knew it…I began to see how God was piecing this all together and since I was never able to have children; I also thought that this would be something that I could do, to help and inspire other children.
As I went to work on this project…it started out; that we would do a storybook; but then soon, the storybook idea turned into a coloring storybook. My assistant has quite an imagination, when it comes to children; so as he began to give me ideas…I put it all into writing and then my husband, Keith helped me a little with the art work. Before we knew it…a new coloring storybook was born.
Now Mr. Moose…Mrs. Raccoon…Professor Squirrel and Mr. Crow…all live together in the forest…and they are called the Wilderness Gang. They are a group of animals that go deep into the forest, to help hurting and injured animals; but they also face an obstacle of their own and that is a mean old bear; that is trying to stop their work and bully them. I have to say right now; that this is a great book, for children that are being bullied or could use a little encouragement, when it comes to friendships.
I truly believe that children will connect with these characters, as they not only read the story; but also bring the characters to life with colors. Again…it never ceases to amaze me, as to how God can take a passing thought and turn it into something that can help and encourage others in need.
Below this blog post, I have also posted our brand new book trailer, for our newest coloring storybook… “The Wilderness Gang: Loving Others Who Hurt Us” and I hope you will take a little time to enjoy what I have put together. Come and listen to Professor Squirrel, as he talks about this brand new book; that God has blessed us with!
Blessings on your day!
