Hello everyone! I’m so glad you decided to join me today on Moments Spent with God! I pray that your day is going well and that God will truly bless us all today, with words of hope and encouragement; that will keep us pressing on…especially during the tough times!
Before we begin today, I thought that I’d let you know that as we’re drawing closer to the Easter weekend; that I will be doing a series of writings…starting with one today on the time when Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane and then on Friday…a Good Friday writing…here on Moments Spent with God and then from there, I hope you will join me on Easter Sunday…on my page Sunday Inspiration, for a very special writing.
As we begin today, we look back to a time, when God was preparing His Son, to become the complete sacrifice for all mankind…a time, when His Son would display a tremendous heart of love and forgiveness, while experiencing a time of great suffering. In fact, we could never even fathom these difficult moments that Jesus went through but one thing we can know for sure; is that His love for us became greater than the suffering He was about to face.
Today, as I was thinking back to this time…I was thinking on the great moments of temptation that Jesus faced, while praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. You know…we think that we face difficult battles with the evil one but can you imagine what He must have went through, as Satan was working overtime, to do all he could possibly do, to keep Him from going to the cross? In fact, in Luke 22:44, we read… “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.”
One thing I’m constantly reminded of, as I think back to this time; was how Jesus always remained focused on His Father. In fact, I see Jesus’ connection with His Father, as a lifeline that kept Him from giving up and walking away.
You know…if Jesus was able to remain focused on His Father, during the very overwhelming moments of temptation; then we can surely do the same. I know one thing that can make it easier; is when we think back to all that Jesus gave freely to us and the love He shows us…despite our mistakes and wrongdoings. I don’t know about you but I have never met anyone in my life, who would whole-heartily walk beyond my faults to care for my needs, as Jesus does and this alone should draw our attention to Him, rather than everything that is going on around us.
Today, can we say that we are willing to stand with God and not allow the evil one to have his way with us? Can we say that we are willing to live by Jesus’ example and continue to focus on the One, who can walk us through these difficult moments, until the time of suffering has come to an end?
Even though Jesus asked that this cup should pass from Him…He was still willing to follow through with His Father’s will for His life…no matter what He had to face. Can we say that we are willing to do the same…despite what stands before us? I truly believe that when we are willing to connect with God during these overwhelming moments of pain and heartache; that He will become the lifeline that will keep us safe and secure, until this time of trial has finally reached its end.
May God truly bless and keep you close to Him, while facing the difficult moments of life!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
