Hello everyone…it’s so good to be with you today, on “Moments Spent with God!” I truly pray that God will surround you with Himself and that His love will supersede anything that’s troubling you today.
You know…one thing that I have always struggled with, for the longest time; is allowing others to control me. First, I must tell you that I grew up in a very dysfunctional home and after experiencing some very painful moments in my life…I sought counseling; but to this day, I can still feel these moments trying to take over my life.
As I’ve been sitting here in my office…listening to some music and spending some quiet moments alone with God, I’ve been thinking back, to what a counselor once said to me about putting up boundary lines and not allowing others to control my life. You know…when we don’t allow God to lay out the spiritual boundary line for us; then we are just asking for Satan to step in and have control over us and sometimes that form of control can even come about, when Satan attempts to use other people to control our lives.
You may be wondering today…how do we allow God to lay out a boundary line for us? First, we need to get out of the way and allow God to have full control over our lives; so He can control what Satan is attempting to do, rather than us trying to fight these battles alone. From there, we need to focus on God, rather than what is attempting to take us down, which will keep us safe within the boundary line that He has laid out for us.
A while back, I remember reading a chapter in the book of Job and it was at a time, when God and Satan were conversing about Job’s life. Satan had mentioned to God that Job was only the man he was because of God’s hedge of protection around him. He continued his conversation with God and said that if that hedge of protection was removed; then Job probably wouldn’t be strong enough to remain committed to Him; so God allowed Satan to put Job to the test but at the same time, God told Satan that he was not allowed to touch one hair on his head…or in otherwise destroy him, which became the boundary line that God laid out before Job.
You know…we can experience more peace and feel safe with God, when we allow Him to lay out a boundary line around us. I like to think of this boundary line, as though I am surrounded by walls that I can pass through but Satan can’t. Oh yes…he may attempt to cross that line but one thing I have come to see; is how God has the control stick in hand…a control stick that only allows him to do, what God may be allowing within our lives. Even though God does allow certain things to cross this boundary line; it’s only because He is going to use them to make us stronger and build up the boundary line, which will make it that much harder for Satan to cross.
We can experience times, when we wonder if God is even with us, due to what we see happening around us but when we can truly come to see how God has control over our lives; then even though we may face moments that seem out of our control, we can live with a settled back feeling…knowing that God truly has control over our lives.
Have a great day & God bless!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
