Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Friday to you all! I truly pray that your day is going well…and that we all will come to see that when we walk in God’s direction…that His best will ALWAYS be waiting there for us…Amen!!
Yesterday afternoon, after finishing my writing on the blog; Keith came into my office and I was sharing it with him. While discussing different parts of the writing; God put a question before me, which reads… “Do our desires take us beyond our problem or are we allowing our feelings to keep us connected face to face with the problem?” After saying this out loud, I began to write this down on my tablet because there could be a possibility that we are allowing our feelings to outweigh the true desire of what we long for, which could stop us in our tracks and keep us from walking freely away from the problems we’re facing.
One thing I know without a doubt; is that we all experience feelings. In fact…these feelings can either help us to see where we’re headed with the problem…or these feelings could also go out of control…to the place where they control us and keep us distant from God and the true desires of our hearts.
As we continue our time together, I would like to share some thoughts that deal with “feelings” and then with “desires”…that we may be able to discern between the two, as a means of recognizing whether we may possibly be headed in the wrong direction.
To start out with, I would like to share a Bible verse that relates to “feelings”…and it’s found in Proverbs 28:26, which reads… “He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.”
I remember a time, when I became so caught up in everything that was taking place in my life. In other words…it was as if I had taken a plate and stacked each problem on it. As I began to view what was before me; it seemed as if my feelings totally went out of control. In fact…I became so caught up in what they were conveying to me; that I ended up remaining there in my ashes of despair for quite some time. As I look back on those moments in my life, I now see where I had allowed my feelings to take me to a wallowing hole, which took me nowhere in life. In fact...it actually kept me distant from God, while taking me through many moments of needless despair. I have now come to see that I had allowed my problems to bring me to a halt…where I never made any progress…that is, until I chose to go after the true desires of my heart.
Ok…let’s now turn to a Bible verse that relates to our hearts desires…and the one that God has laid upon my heart to share with you, is found in Psalm 37:4, which reads…“Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” In other words…truly take delight in the Lord…not the problem. You know…it’s so easy to speak the desires of our hearts; but can we truly say that we have chosen to follow after them? Let’s ask ourselves this question…how are we ever going to discover what God truly has for us, if we are always following after what is attempting to dictate our lives? In other words…the only way we are going to be able to find what God truly longs to give us; is when we follow after Him and the desire of our heart, rather than a controlling feeling. Believe me when I say…I have come to see what can happen, when a person follows after a controlling feeling…and I’ve also come to see how I can find the true desire of my heart…simply by following after God…and I’ll tell you…I choose to go beyond the problem and allow the desire of my heart to become the path that leads me to God’s very best for my life.
One thing I would like to say as we close; is that I don’t believe that we should ignore our feelings…or that we shouldn’t accept that we could be having feelings about certain things that are taking place in our lives; but I am saying that sometimes our feelings have a way of controlling us, as a means of bringing life to a halt…to the place where we never reach the true desire of the heart…and this should never be.
No matter what you are facing right now…and no matter how grim it may appear to be; may I encourage you to keep following after God…and never give up on the true desire of your heart; for where your heart is…that is where He will be also. (Matthew 6:21)
Have a very blessed day…and remember to go beyond the problem and continue to seek the true desire of your heart…for when you do; that is when you will find what you’ve been looking for…Amen!
