Good evening everyone…and how was your day? I truly hope that it’s been a good one! For me, it was a very busy day…as I wanted to catch up on some things before the weekend; but no matter what I faced in this day…God was there in the midst of it all…and I praise Him tonight, for being my strength and everything that I needed in my day!!
Have you ever started out doing something…thinking that you just might only do so much…and then before you know it; you’ve gone way beyond, what you first planned on doing? Well…that was my morning. You know…I’ve always been a person who enjoys life…especially cooking; but I tend to get so caught up into what I’m doing; that I forget about how much my legs can handle.
Anyways…as I started my day in the kitchen, I decided to make some things ahead, so it would give me more time to relax over the weekend. I started out making spaghetti…Diane’s homemade spaghetti…and from there I just kept going. Before I knew it, I had made some peanut butter cookies for the freezer…some homemade tortillas for tacos, along with several other things.
As I got about ¾ of my work done…the pain really began to set in…and honestly, I didn’t know if I would be able to finish. Keith had offered ahead of time, to do the dishes, which is a great help; but I still had things on the counter…and I was just beginning to make the tortillas…so I sat in a chair and said… “Lord, I really need your help…please get me through this time.”
Well…after my little prayer, I mentioned to Keith that I was going to go and take a break in the living room and elevate the leg for a bit; so he joined me and we relaxed and visited for about a half an hour. After looking at the clock, I decided it was time to get up and finish; so I got brave…took hold of the walker and began to head back into the kitchen.
As I took my attention away from the pain and began to focus and try to enjoy what I was doing; I found that I was done in no time. From there…Keith began to rinse the dishes and wash them, while I sat in the chair…waiting for some homemade bread to bake…and by the way, I make the best bread…and I make it in my porcelain cast iron dutch oven…and wow…it’s the best!
Anyways…tonight, I just want to thank God for answering my prayer so quickly and giving me the strength to finish what I had begun. You know…life isn’t always easy; but I have definitely come to see that life is easier, when we turn to God for help. Why should we suffer needlessly, when there is a God, whose strength can keep us standing during the hard and difficult times of life?
In Psalm 28:7, we read… “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.” Do we realize that when we go to God and seek His help; that we are truly taking our eyes away from the problem, to trust Him completely? When we choose to go this route, during the difficult times; then we soon find that we are helped, which gives us a reason to love and praise Him more.
No matter what you may be going through right now…don’t let it dictate your life; but rather, rise above it and seek help, from a God who will truly meet you, at the need of your heart…Amen!!
Well…time to go and enjoy some of that good food! I truly have enjoyed this day with you…and I pray that you too, will come to see how God can be your greatest helper…just by simply turning to Him, with a heart of trust!
Have a great night & God bless!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
