Many times we face moments when life is so overwhelming; that these moments make us feel abandoned and alone…in a world of our own. Many times I have felt this way...through this long and difficult journey that I’ve been on for many years of my life.
Yesterday I was listening to a song…and these were the words that hit my heart head on… “When the friends I had were nowhere to be found; I couldn't see it then but I can see it now…there was Jesus.”
As I thought more and more on these words; my thoughts took me back to a moment in my life, when I had gone to a youth outing. Due to the condition of my legs, I was unable to run…and as my friends and I stood in the darkness…looking for the next clue on a scavenger hunt…another gal ran up and said that she had found it. Within seconds, everyone took off and left me in the darkness alone. I will never forget how that felt. As I stood there, in what seemed to be the blackest night…in a forest that was unknown to me, I began to cry and feel as if that was where I would remain. I would say that within a few short minutes after that…flashlights began to flicker behind me and within a short time; my brother was standing there before me. I fell into his arms and from there; he and his friend began to lead me out of that dark forest.
Now as I look back; Jesus is reminding me of a moment, when He was right there beside me…and as the tears began to flow…He had come running to rescue me, from the moments that seemed so hopeless.
You know…many times, we can experience moments when we feel so alone and abandoned in life. We can even feel as if no one will ever care or understand what we are facing at the time; but I have come to see that when friends…or even family are nowhere to be found…there is Jesus.
As I look back on my life…and even the most recent moments of my life…I see where Jesus had come to me. Isn’t it amazing how we don’t always see it at the time…that is, until He takes us back in time…to remind us of moments, when He was there with us.
Maybe today, your situation has made you feel abandoned and alone. If so, may I encourage you to look back on the moments that have brought you this far; for you wouldn’t be where you are at this moment, if it hadn’t been for Jesus.
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
