How many times have we said the words “I can’t”…before realizing that when we can’t…there is someone who can? Last week, I had made plans to wallpaper under my kitchen cabinets. In fact, I was thinking that it was about time, since I hadn’t changed the wallpaper in the kitchen for about 20 years. Before we go any further, it’s not my fault that the older paper remained there that long, as I was going through multiple knee surgeries.
Anyways…I’ve been talking to Keith for quite some time, as to how this needed to be done; so finally I ordered the wallpaper, as I wanted the walls to appear as if there were logs on the wall. After getting a great sale…and waiting for the paper to arrive; I began to go through a large stretch of pain in my feet and legs…and you know where that can take a person. Yep…you’re right…it can make a person want to stop the project immediately.
As I sat one day on the couch…talking with Keith, I actually admitted to him; that I didn’t know if I could do this project, due to so much pain. As the following days went by, I just decided to trust God, rather than what I was seeing before me…so after receiving the paper yesterday, I decided that this would be the day to get this project done.
Before beginning the work, I took some time alone with God and talked to Him about what needed to be done, which I’m sure He already knew. Then I asked Him to be strength for me and to help my feet and legs during this time; and even more…to give me wisdom and skill, as I walked through the moments ahead of me.
I would say that about halfway through the wallpapering, I began to feel quite a bit of pain…but deep down, I felt something nudging me, as if to say… “Don’t worry Diane; where you leave off, I will take over”…and you know what…He did…for His strength and presence entered me and made it work for me. As I sit here talking with you right now, the project is done and I now have a beautiful kitchen that only costed me about $30 dollars.
You know…so many times, we find ourselves sizing up the problems we’re facing at the time; that this alone causes us to want to give up; but what a comfort to know that when we can’t…God can; that is, if we will only believe this to be true.
There’s a Bible verse in Philippians 4:13 that I’m sure we all know and it goes like this… “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Don’t you think that if we would only focus on His strength, rather than our weakness; that we would see that we can make it through anything we face…no matter how great or how small?
Maybe today, you are facing some very tough times…and maybe you are saying to yourself… “I just can’t make it anymore.” Instead of allowing these moments to defeat you, why not let Christ take your place and fill in for the moments that seemed to have brought you down to nothing. One thing I know for sure…we may not be able to accomplish everything in our lives alone or get through all the tough times that come our way; but God can and will do it for us…Amen!!
Many blessings on your day!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
