Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Wednesday to you all! You may have noticed that I’m a little earlier today…and that is because Diane is trying to beat the heat and spend time with God in the coolness of her morning.
As we begin this time together, I pray that God’s words would truly touch the depth of our hearts and souls…and that we will leave this writing, with a piece of hope that can carry us through these hard and difficult times of life…Amen!!
Last night, as I was preparing to go to bed, I began to share my heart with God and as I was talking with Him, I had mentioned to Him that I hadn’t felt a specific topic to write on for my Wednesday…and that I would leave it up to Him. Well…one thing I have truly come to see; is that when we choose to leave it up to Him; that is when He begins to work…so last night…in the late hours of my evening, He began to fill up my little note pad with thoughts that would eventually bring me to the writing today.
Some of the questions God laid upon my heart last night are these… “How is it that we feel the need to test the waters with God, before actually diving in with a full heart of faith?”…and “Do we have to see and experience God’s hand at work in our lives, before allowing faith to lead the way?” If so; then maybe two of the reasons for responding to our circumstances in this way, could be that we fear the final outcome of where our faith may be leading us or maybe it could be that we have come to know the circumstance we’re facing, even more than God.
We must remember that faith is not looking at our surroundings, while attempting to figure out the situation; but rather, faith becomes a time when we choose to stop with our own way of thinking...to focus on a God who truly has the answers to what may be surrounding us at the time. In other words…our thoughts, as to how the situation should be fixed, should never be the answer to our problem; but rather, looking into the darkness of our situation…to see and experience God; is where our faith should be leading us.
As I laid in bed last night…thinking on these thoughts that God had placed upon my heart and mind; I was also reminded, as to how we tend to feel that our situation has to be totally gone before praising God and stating with full assurance that He is Lord of our lives. One thing I’m seeing more and more; is how easily we tend to find faith at the end our trial, rather than in the midst of our trial. In other words…we have to see it to believe it.
This morning, God led me to a Bible verse in Hebrews 11:1, which says… “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Now…the way that I have truly come to see and experience faith; was when I was walking through a dark tunnel of despair. At the time, there was not even a glimpse of light to help me see the way…and only the unknown stood before me. I had two choices at the time…I could either sit in that darkness and let the darkness overtake me; or I could hope for something better…and out of a desperate heart, I began to take baby steps, while trusting God for every step that laid before me. It may have taken a while to walk out of the dark wilderness of despair; but the thing I came to see; is that even though I couldn’t see the way through the darkness…God could…and with time, I was led out of the darkness and into the light of a brand new dawn.
Maybe today, you are caught up in a dark circumstance…and as you look into that darkness, you are either trying to find a way out on your own…or maybe you are allowing this form of darkness, to steal the faith that you once had in God. May I encourage you today, to put a foot forward and trust God to lead you out of that darkness? One thing I know…with all my heart; is that He definitely knows the way out and all we have to do is follow…through a heart of faith.
As you continue to walk through this day and the days that lie ahead of you…don’t allow your thoughts to be the answer that leads you out of darkness…for that may only lead you down other darkened paths of despair. Instead, let it all go into the hands of a God who has the answer…the cure…and definitely the way out of these darkened moments you’re walking through…Amen!
Have a great day everyone…and remember to allow your faith to be the hand that reaches out and takes hold of God’s hand…a hand that will truly help you walk out of despair!
Many blessings on your day!
