“Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.” Hosea 12:6
“Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” Psalm 27:14
“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”
Hello everyone and welcome back this week to Sunday Inspiration! I am so glad that you stopped by for a visit this Sunday and I pray that we will truly experience a special touch from God today!
You know…letting go of life’s problems isn’t always easy…is it? Seems like we travel with God, from one problem to another and some of those problems are solved instantly or within a short time, while others seem to drag on, with no end in sight. We sit and wonder if there’s something else we can do, to resolve the problem; but I’ve come to see that sometimes we can get in God’s way, which only makes it much more difficult for God to finish the work that He has begun.
The song that I chose for this Sunday is titled, “Stand Still” and when I first heard this song, I was quickly reminded; that sometimes we just need to stand still and let God do His work. Don’t we realize that we can unknowingly become the road block that keeps God from entering the core of our problems…just by always feeling the need to make this work out or to make that work out?
One thing I have come to see, while facing my own problems; is that when we try to make life work our way; then we only end up on a detour road that takes us further away from the One we need the most.
Have you ever felt so distant from God, while walking through a deep dark valley of despair? Isn’t it amazing how we question God, as to why He abandoned us, at the time we needed Him the most, when all along we were probably the ones who left His side, by choosing our own direction and ideas, for the problems we were facing at the time.
Don’t we realize that God loves us so much; that He longs to always be close to us? Sometimes, I think that while we are feeling abandoned by God…He is actually the One, who is feeling abandoned by us. Don’t we realize that when we choose to make life work for ourselves; that we are actually headed in a direction that removes us from the presence of God? Once we have wondered off, on some detour road of our own choosing; then we end up finding out later; that our problems only worsen…because you see, once we leave the presence of God, we only find ourselves in unknown territory, where we can easily be trapped within other problems.
I truly believe that there is a time when we need to work with God, when it comes to our problems; but I also believe that sometimes we have to know when it’s time to stop and let God finish the work.
No matter what you’re facing today, just know that God is there for you. Sometimes, He’s longing for you to work with Him, as you journey with Him through these trying times in your life; but when the road seems to come to an end and you don’t know where to go from there…stand still and let God take over and once we are all willing to follow God in this way; then we will not only be in sync with Him; but we will also begin to see a God, who is not only much more powerful than ourselves; but a God who is more than able to kick in and do the work that’s just too difficult for us to finish.
Have a blessed Sunday…filled with the presence of God!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
“At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place. (2) Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth. (3) He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth. (4) After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard. (5) God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. (6) For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength. (7) He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.” Job 37:1-7
Hello everyone and welcome today, to Sunday Inspiration! I hope your Sunday is off to a great start! My prayer today, as we begin; is that we will truly experience God’s presence, within the very depth of our hearts!
Have you ever experienced something unusual and wondered if it was God’s way of loving you through a difficult moment in your life? Have you ever felt the wind blow out of nowhere and wonder if it was God breathing down upon you? Have you ever had a song come to your thoughts; that you had never heard before, while finding the words to be of great comfort, during the difficult times of your life?
I have experienced the true and loving presence of God many times, while facing the difficult moments of pain and heartache. I remember a time in my life, when all I felt was the weight of a broken heart; to the place where I could barely pray. These became the moments when songs would enter my thoughts that I had never heard before. As I would listen to the words, it seemed as if they were messages, from God’s heart to mine…messages that would comfort me, during the broken times of my life. If you were to ask me what these songs sounded like or what the words said, I couldn’t tell you because I feel as if God was using those songs, for that specific moment in time.
You know…there can be moments, when we truly question God, as to why He allows certain circumstances to enter our lives. Have you ever wondered if this is God’s way of reaching us and loving us? You say…is this love; that God would allow me to suffer greatly? In some way, yes because sometimes the love we experience from God is a tough love…a love that longs so much for us to be walking in His will and sometimes God’s way of directing us there, is to allow these difficult moments to enter our lives.
If we could only find God, while walking through the broken moments of our lives; but it seems as if we become so caught up in what we are experiencing at the moment; that we become deafened to the voice and touch of a powerful and loving God.
You know…God not only sees the tears that fall down our cheeks but He also hears the cry that comes from deep within the heart and when we choose to fall humbly before a mighty God; that is when He steps in and reveals Himself to us, in ways that we could never have imagined.
I remember a time, when I took a whole summer to write, while my husband was working. I would take my tablet and pen out onto the deck and listen for the still small voice of God. As I was thinking on what God would have me to write, I decided to get up and look over the rail of the deck. As I looked up to the sky…out of nowhere, a strong wind hit me in the face and almost knocked me over. From there, a poem was born, which talked about God’s breath breathing down upon us.
You know…we don’t have to be someone special in God’s eyes, to experience these special moments with Him. All God longs from us; is that we would humbly seek Him with a whole heart. When are willing to tune ourselves out from the world and our own thoughts, to listen for that still small voice of God, we will begin to experience the presence of a God, who longs to love and care for us so much!
Blessings on your Sunday!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. (4) Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. (5) But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:3-5
Hello everyone and welcome back this week, to Sunday Inspiration! I am so happy to have you with me this Sunday and my prayer is that we will truly find a piece of hope that will help us to rise above the moments of despair!
Let me ask you a question, as we begin today. How many scars do you have? I’m not talking about physical scars; but rather, I am talking about the emotional scars that have been left behind, after enduring hard and difficult times.
If I was to look deep within my own self, I would see a heart that is probably made up of scars…scars that reveal much loss in my life, along with past moments of deep pain and heartache. These scars we wear within ourselves can remind us of the moments that brought us much pain…and can even make us feel as though we are a failure in life.
One thing I’m reminded of today; is that these scars aren’t there to make us feel defeated; but rather, they are there to remind us of God’s faithfulness and how He can use these scars to be a testimony to others in need.
As our thoughts take us back to an old rugged cross; we think back on a man, who not only died on the cross for our sins but we are also reminded of the scars that were left behind, on His hands and feet. When we think on Jesus’ scars, we are reminded of a great price that was paid, for the sins of this world…and with such great love.
Today, if you were to look at my knees, you would see a road map of scars on both legs, where the doctors attempted to fix a problem brought about at birth. Not only would you see the scars but you would see a leg that will never bend again. Now, if I was to focus on what I see on the surface; then I would probably end up having some kind of pity party for myself. Instead, I choose to look deep beneath the layers of those scars. For those scars remind me of God’s faithfulness and how far He has brought me in life; for these scars that I now wear on my body have led me to where I am, in serving God.
I remember the moment, when I was going into surgery, to have my right knee fused with a rod. I have to tell you that I came close to getting off that gurney, even though I knew I had no other choice; but now, as I look back, I’m glad I didn’t because I would say about 5 years ago, I had a man contact me from Europe. I know without a doubt that God had led him to me because he wrote me an email and said… “Diane, I thought no one could ever understand what I’m going through; but after reading your bio…on your website, I knew that I wasn’t alone.” You see…this man had also had a rod put in his right leg and his leg was permanently fused…just like mine. Never did I realize that this awful moment in my life, would ever be used, to encourage and uplift someone else in need.
You know…its Satan’s desire to continually remind us of where our scars once brought us. He longs so much for us to see ourselves as failures, while using these past weaknesses, as a means of keeping us distant from God.
Today, we need to view these scars, not only as a time when God was faithful but also as a reminder that God will continually be faithful, through the remainder of our lives…no matter what we face in life.
May God truly bless your day with His loving presence!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. (13) Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, (14) I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Hello everyone! I am so happy to have you with me today, on Sunday Inspiration! I pray that as you read this God inspired writing; that you will truly find a connection with God that will help you to keep pressing on!
Today, I may be talking with someone, who is at the end of their rope. Maybe you just can’t take one more thing or maybe you’re so overwhelmed by what you’ve been going through; that you just can’t find the strength to take one more step forward.
I remember a time, when I stood before the mirror in my bathroom and said to God… “I can’t make it anymore.” His reply within my spirit was this… “Diane, you are making it. You are breathing…you are standing before me…you are talking with me…you are already making it.” As I felt His loving words within my spirit, I began to realize that I was making it. Maybe I wasn’t making it, in the way that I thought I should; but I was making it.
How many of us have been so broken; that we can barely find the strength to breathe our next breath…let alone take one more step and attempt to press on? It seems so easy for others to say…just move on; but to be honest…it’s not always that easy. One thing that helped me, through the very trying moments of my past, was to know that if I could take one step…or do one thing; then that would become a glimpse of hope; that would eventually allow the sunshine of God’s presence to lighten up this darkened path.
In our reading today, Paul is encouraging us to press on. He knew that he hadn’t quite learned everything in life; but one thing he did know and that was to not focus on what had happened; but to put all his energy into moving forward. Paul had a goal and that goal was to win the prize, for overcoming all of life’s struggles. He knew that if he could only keep his thoughts focused on that prize; then he would win life eternal in the end.
In Matthew 24:13, we read… “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” You know…Jesus never said that life would be easy but He did make a promise to us; that He would be with us until the very end. These trials that we face can be filled with tempting words; that attempt to sway us off into another direction…a direction that can take us away from the presence of God. Once we begin to believe these words; that is when Satan steps in and attempts to lead us over the cliff to total destruction.
Today, we need to get our focus away from the moments that Satan is attempting to use against us and instead, focus on the prize. When a person runs a race…they face obstacles but they know that with great strength, they can overcome and leap above those obstacles. Part of that strength comes, from focusing on the prize. In a similar way, when we run the race of life, we too face obstacles but when we have our sight focused on the prize that awaits us; then with God’s strength, we can overcome these obstacles and in the end…win the prize that will free from these difficult times, for all of eternity.
Blessings on your Sunday!
