“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. (4) No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”
II Timothy 21:3-4
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Hello everyone! Welcome today, to Sunday Inspiration! I am so glad that you were able to find us here at the Risen Hope Ministries and I pray that as we spend some special time alone with God; that you will leave with a piece of hope to hold to…a hope that will carry you through, whatever you may be facing at this time.
Have you ever thought; that these difficult moments we face; is as though we are fighting in a heated battle? As the enemy moves in and attempts to take control, we have a choice. We can either become a sitting target on the battlefield or we can get up and fight, with the power of the One that lives within us.
One thing God has truly taught me, over the long and trying years of affliction; is to never give into the battle; but to always pursue and keep pressing on. Have we forgotten how powerful this God is; that lives within us? How is it that we tend to make our weak circumstance more powerful than a God of great power?
In our Bible reading for today…I remember reading one of these verses many times, while struggling with my own battles in life…and the verse that helped me so much is verse 4, of II Timothy 21. The section of this verse that has really touched my heart; is where it says… “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life…”
I think we need to stop and ask ourselves one question today. Are we too involved with what is happening in our lives; that we have succumbed to the problem? In other words, have we got too involved or entangled within the affairs of what Satan is presenting us with; that unknowingly, we have entered the enemy’s territory, rather than fighting him.
Today, we need to get back to reality and realize whose side we’re truly on. There is no in between…we have either followed after the problem and found ourselves on the wrong side of the battle or we have chosen to join God and fight side by side with Him.
One thing I can say for sure…is that we can’t get an attitude with God; but we can with Satan. Why are we choosing to wallow beneath a weak problem, rather than standing strong and fighting him, for what we truly desire in life. You know…it’s so easy to say that we don’t want a problem in our lives anymore; but do we truly mean it? In other words…do our actions threaten Satan, as if to say…back off or have we laid out the welcome mat to our lives…offering to let him come and go as he pleases…just by the way we respond to our problems?
I don’t know about you; but I would rather be fighting the enemy, rather than allowing him to have control over my life. Today, we need to stand tall…shake the circumstance from us and get an attitude against evil…and then, with the Lord’s help…fight evil, until his works of darkness have been destroyed.
Today, I pray that we all will find the strength to stand up against evil, even while experiencing difficult moments of weakness!
Blessings on your day!

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.
(29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Hello everyone and welcome today, to Sunday Inspiration! I hope that your Sunday is off to a good start and that we all will truly experience the loving and powerful hand of God…at work in our lives today, as we spend these quiet and precious moments alone with Him!
How many times are we going to allow ourselves to walk through moments of needless suffering…before we let go and fall into the arms of Jesus? You know…even though Jesus may be allowing a circumstance to stick around for a bit…He never said that we would ever have to face these moments alone. In fact…in our Bible reading today; Jesus is saying… “Come unto me”… “I will give you rest.” What is even more amazing in these verses…in Matthew 11; is that Jesus truly longs to exchange our yoke of bondage, for a lighter one…one that will not make the suffering seem out of control or difficult for us to bear, which makes me realize even more; that Jesus’ love for us is so great; that He is willing to share in these difficult moments of pain and heartache.
Recently, I was telling my husband that I remember a time in my life, when I would stay up a lot throughout the night…worrying and upset over a problem. I guess that those were the days, when I tried to handle life on my own, which I quickly came to see…was not working out that well.
As time passed; I began to discover all that Jesus could be for me and I not only learned but I pursued, until Jesus became my closest friend. Now, when I’ve had a hard day and my mind refuses to shut down; I turn to a god, whose peace truly does calm the troubled waters within. In fact, there was one night a while ago, when I was having a talk with God before bed and as I told Him about my day, I began to also ask for His perfect peace…not a temporary peace that comes through life here on earth; but a peace that could truly become the remedy I needed at the time; so I could settle down and rest for the night. As I began to lie down and continue my talk with God; it was as though I sensed a watering can above my head…sprinkling droplets of peace and before I knew it…the cares of the day had melted away and I was fast asleep.
You know…Jesus truly longs to help us through the moments that are just too much for us to bear alone; but first, we must walk in His direction, rather than the direction of the problem…or our own direction. Walking in Jesus’ direction…with a heart that truly longs for His help and care, will open up a place for Him to enter; so peace can be exchanged, for the heavy burden…brought about by these difficult moments of affliction.
We don’t always understand why Jesus just can’t remove the problem from our lives; but while we are waiting on Him, to help us walk away from the circumstance; there is a way, where we can find relief from these troubled times…and all Jesus is asking; is for us to run into His loving arms of mercy and let Him take over from there.
In my office, I have a picture on the wall and it depicts Jesus lifting up a young man…as a means of leading him away from the darkness…into the light. One thing I have truly come to see through this picture; is a love that is willing to take everything upon Himself…to bring someone out of darkness…someone, who can barely stand on their own.
No matter what we face in life…or no matter how long the trial may last; Jesus longs so much to not only walk through these moments with us; but to also shelter us and be the strength we need, when we find it so difficult to stand on our own. The question we need to ask ourselves today is this; are we willing to let go; so God can carry us and be our strength, during times of weakness?
Blessings on your day!

“And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. (49) And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. (50) So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David. (51) Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.” I Samuel 17:48-51
Hello everyone! Welcome today, to Sunday Inspiration…at the Risen Hope Ministries! Whether you don’t have a church to attend…or whether you live with chronic pain and illness…or maybe you just need an extra word of encouragement…no matter what…you are always welcome here! My prayer is that God will give you that piece of hope you need to hold to today, while facing your own moments of circumstance!
One thing I have learned the most, over a lifetime of pain and heartache; is how we can allow fear or any other negative feeling to cripple us and keep us from moving ahead in life. We need to realize today; that Satan is not only out to afflict us; but to also control these moments of affliction, in a way that will keep us in bondage…where he will always have control.
One thing I really love about the story of David and Goliath; is that David wasn’t focused on the giant that stood before him; but rather, he was more focused on the power of a great and mighty God. Can you imagine standing before a giant like Goliath, with only a few stones and a sling shot? I’ll tell you…it took a lot of faith for David to do what he did; but because he was willing to take a step of faith in God’s direction; God’s power entered the stones that were thrown at Goliath and the power of God brought the giant to the ground.
Do we realize what really happens, when we allow fear to dictate our lives? The way I’ve experienced fear within my own life, is best described as a place where a person is shut off from life. They are isolated within a world of their own, where Satan can step in and control and manipulate them, as a means of keeping them out of commission with life and with God.
I remember a time…quite a while back, when Keith was working on our car and he was going to walk down to a parts store, to get a part for the car. Not too long after he had left, the doorbell rang and I thought that Keith had come back and didn’t have his keys; so I opened the door and to my surprise, a young man was standing there…and from there, he pushed open the door and came just inside the door. This person had been stalking other people in this neighborhood, where we once lived but they couldn’t arrest him because he hadn’t done anything to be arrested for. Anyways…I began to freeze and didn’t know what was going to happen. I made it seem like Keith was upstairs but I think he knew that Keith had already left the house. As I stood there…not knowing what was about to happen, I began to see Keith walking back. I kept quiet, until Keith reached the yard and then I yelled to him for help. I guess what I’m trying to say through this story; is that the experiences we go through in life…or even the circumstances that enter our lives, can attempt to convince us that it would be easier to just live in a world of fear, rather than the real world. I know…because it took some time for me, to just go across the road and get my mail after this experience; but I learned that as I took little steps each day…steps of faith; I was eventually able to get back into life.
You know…sometimes we can be led down a road with our circumstance and when it’s over and it’s time to return back into the land of the living; we find it very difficult to be able to know that we can return back, without being hurt again; so we fall prey to fear. One thing we must remember…is that we need to take the steps of faith that will walk us completely away, from the moments that Satan once used to cripple us and keep us in bondage. Sometimes, we just need to take that first step; to be convinced that we can make it. Even though that first step can be a very difficult one to take; we find later that each step that follows becomes easier.
When we can talk hold of God’s hand…just as David did and allow our faith to take us above these moments of fear; that is when we will see how God’s power can destroy the works of darkness and bring evil to its knees.
Blessings on your Sunday!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
“And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is them, and be their God. (4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (5) And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. (6) And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.” Revelation 21:3-6
Hello everyone! Welcome today, to Sunday Inspiration! Whether you are unable to go to church or could just use some words of encouragement today…my prayer is that you will find a piece of God’s hope to hold to, while you are here…hope that will keep you standing, in the midst of whatever you may be facing.
As I was thinking about my writing for today, I was also thinking back to all that God has brought me through. Even though the twenty one knee surgeries are now a thing of the past…along with the counseling, for sexual abuse; Satan definitely has a way of reminding me; of how awful those moments were and he can even attempt to keep those thoughts alive, in ways that can distract me and even attempt to make me distant from God.
While thinking on this the other day, I came across a beautiful song, titled…“When He Carries Me Away…which I have posted on this page for today. Anyways…there’s a part that caught my attention, while listening to the song and it goes like this… “When He calls me to that land of no tomorrow, where grief and tears are gone without a trace; I'll lay down all my trouble, cares, and sorrow…and I'll carry them no more, when He carries me away.”
After listening to this song several times, I started to think what it will be like, when I lay down my past…and all that I have gone through in this lifetime, to be carried away in the arms of Jesus. Can you imagine…never having to think about tomorrow…or even into the next week because in heaven, there will be no tomorrow…just one beautiful day, for all of eternity.
You know…I think the hardest thing I’ve had to overcome in my life, is the memory of a past sexual abuse. Once something like this has been imprinted within a person’s being…the memory is there forever; but as I was listening to this song, God was reminding me that the things of the past will one day disappear without a trace…as though these painful times in our lives never existed. What hope!
There have been times in my life, when I just sit and think what heaven will be like. One thing we do know, from God’s word; is that there will be no more tears…pain or suffering of any kind. I don’t know about you…but I’m looking forward to a time, when I don’t have to wake up and live one more day with pain or look at scars that remind me of all I’ve been through. Even now, I look at my right leg; that has been stiff with a rod, for about 10 years and I am reminded that we will all have new bodies; that won’t reveal any scars from the past.
One day…we as Christians, will experience a time, when everything that has deeply affected our lives, will fall powerless to the ground and remain here, while we are swept away on wings of love…and as we enter heaven; God will seal the gates of heaven, from all evil and no matter how many times evil knocks on heaven’s door…evil will not be allowed to enter in and hurt us anymore. This is the hope we live for; that one day, we will be free from all pain and sorrow…and most of all, we will be able to meet the One, who gave His all…out of so much love for us.
No matter what you’re facing today…don’t give up and don’t give into the problem because one day soon…those who have remained faithful and committed to God, will be taken to a place, where our yesterdays will become like a vapor in the wind and God will wipe the final tear from our eyes. The bodies that at one time had experienced suffering and great pain, will be made new and every memory of the past will be wiped clean from our thoughts and we will live in a place that is free from evil…a place, where we will live in the light of God’s perfect and loving presence, for all of eternity.
Blessings on your Sunday!
