Walking In Sync with God - Part One
Devotions to Produce Spiritual Growth
with Diane K Hiltz Chamberlain
Are we walking one step closer to God today or are we lagging behind with our circumstance? Are we allowing our circumstances to reveal a new footprint before us; that can lead us to the plan and purpose; that God has for these difficult moments or have we allowed the problem to keep us in the same footprint, where we remain idle with God? In James 4:8a, we read…“Come near to God and he will come near to you.”
Our circumstances should not keep us in a stand-still, when we have God in our lives. We need to realize that God has a plan for these moments and when we allow these moments to affect us in a negative way; then we are taking a step backward or remaining idle, rather than moving forward with God. We may not always understand why we are going through these difficult moments but that is where trust comes in. When we can trust a God that has a purpose for the circumstance, rather than trusting a circumstance, whose only purpose is to take us down a lonely, dark, and dismal road; then we will have taken one more step closer to God. These steps may not always be easy steps to take and we may feel as though we cannot take one more step but when we know in our hearts that God is placing the footprints before us, while giving us the strength to put our foot in place; then we can press on.
We all face very difficult moments of adversity in our lives and the steps ahead can seem tiresome and cause us to feel weak, as though we can no longer press on but when we anticipate the plan and purpose behind each problem, rather than starring straight into the face of the problem…while allowing it to dictate our thoughts and feelings; then we will discover God’s reasoning, behind these difficult times in our lives.
