Walking in Sync with God - Part Three Devotions to Produce Spiritual Growth
with Diane K Hiltz Chamberlain
Why do we attempt to separate ourselves from a powerful God, while facing an overwhelming moment in our lives? Do we realize that when we do this; it’s as if we are pushing God out of the front door of our heart; so we can take charge? We must realize that when we attempt to do this; we soon find that we are not strong enough to handle the battle that stands before us, on our own.
As I’ve been sitting here…waiting on God, as to what He would have me share with you this morning; He led me to a few verses in Ephesians 2:14-16, which reads… “For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; (15) Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; (16) And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:”
Do we realize that when God’s Son, Jesus Christ died on the cross; His death broke down the barrier wall, so we could always be as one with Him? The problem we face at times; is that we don’t always turn to God and lean on Him, during the difficult times, which only allows the barrier wall to go back up, while we shut God out of these difficult moments of circumstance. Here we sit with the answer to our problems but yet we tend to fight it and remain strong on our own. I don’t know about you but the times that I have attempted to do this; only allowed me to fall flat on my face, while feeling even more frustrated and overwhelmed by the problem.
Today, we might as well realize; that there is only one road to walk down, while facing problems in our lives and that is the road that leads in God’s direction. You know…God has already broken down the wall; that Satan attempted to use, as a means of separating us from Him but we have to be willing to lay the excess baggage, of our own desires behind, so the journey can be an easier one, as God intended. You see…God has already made the way for us but when we step in the way and try to add our two cents; then we find that it only complicates the situation and makes the journey a lot more difficult.
As we begin this new day; can we say that we are willing to walk down the path that God has already opened up to us or are we attempting to make life more difficult by creating our own way…a way that will only cause us to be lost and alone, during these difficult times? When we are willing to let go and listen for God’s voice, rather than our own; then we will find that the way to a healing, will always be opened to us.
