Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Monday to you all! I truly hope and pray that your week is off to a good start! Praise God…that we can experience a brand-new day each day…a day that can give us an opportunity to experience something new, with new possibilities that can give us hope and a fresh start…Amen!!
As we begin our time together today, I would like to ask you a question…"How many of you are feeling locked up in a prison cell of despair?" In other words, has your problem isolated you from life itself, as you sit there…wondering how you will ever make it through?
There was a time in my life, when I had experienced so many long and drawn-out moments of pain and deep heartache; that I began to question God, as to why He would leave me where I was. All I could see before me was a prison cell…one that my problems had led me to.
As I continued to face these very hard and difficult times in my life, I just couldn't figure out why the One who had died to free me, would allow me to remain locked up within these moments…at least that's what I felt at the time. Later, I came to see that I was the one who had given each circumstance permission to lead me into a prison cell of despair, just by the way I reacted to each painful moment. Even though I thought at the time that I had been locked up within these moments…there was nothing really keeping me there…only me, because like John 8:36 says… "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."
Here, Christ had died on the cross in advance, to free me from sin and everything I would face in this life; but because I became so closely attached to each circumstance, rather than Him…I ended up following the lead of each problem that I was facing at the time, as they led me one by one…deeper into a prison cell of despair.
Another very favorite Bible verse of mine that God used during these very difficult times in my life, is found in Galatians 4:9, which reads… "But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?"
I don't know about you; but there can be times when I feel like I'm making progress in my life and then I get hit with a circumstance…only to fall back a couple of steps; but what has helped me the most, during times such as these; is to go back in time, to a place where I can be reminded of the freedom that Christ has given me, through His death on the cross.
Yes…we can experience moments when a problem can make us feel locked up within a prison cell of despair; but that is only because Satan wants us to believe that; but take a closer look…and you will come to see that even though the door has enclosed you within these walls of despair…there is no lock to keep you there; for Christ has freed you…so walk out and be free.
Maybe today, you have been experiencing some long and drawn-out moments of pain and heartache. Maybe these moments have made you feel locked up within a prison cell of despair. Just remember one thing…Christ died to free you from sin and the evil that would attempt to have control over your life. Even though you have unknowingly allowed your circumstance to keep you where you are right now, by the way that you have reacted to it; that doesn't mean that all hope is gone and that you will remain there forever; for Christ's death on the cross has kept that prison cell of despair unlocked…and all you have to do is open the door and walk out and let Christ lead you to the place in which He longs for you to be…a place where He can help you and keep you further away from the past moments of despair. The choice is yours.
As we close this time together, I pray that those of you who are feeling hopelessly lost and locked up with a circumstance today, will come to see that freedom is already yours…and that all you have to do is open the door and walk out…simply, by allowing Christ to have control over the circumstance, rather than allowing the circumstance to have control over you …Amen!
Have a very blessed day…and I will look forward to another visit with you tomorrow! God bless!
