Hello everyone…and how is your Wednesday?! I sure hope that you're enjoying your day…and as we begin our time together, I pray that God will take hold of our hearts and open our thoughts to something new…something that can help and keep us encouraged, so we can continue to press forward in life…Amen!
As we begin, let me ask you a question… "Do you feel as if life is controlling you?" In other words, do you feel like everything that needs to be done in your day and even in your week is weighing you down, while attempting to control you as a person? I know for me; that this has been a struggle at times. In fact, recently I was thinking on how life never seemed to be so complicated. Even when my husband was working…everything just seemed to fall into its rightful place…and I really never remember my days being like this.
Lately, as I've been giving more thought to why I have been experiencing more tiredness and a very overwhelming feeling, I came to see that nothing had really changed in my home and ministry work; but it definitely had in my health, which has really become the culprit, as to why my life has become more of a challenge for me. You know…I have gone over my daily schedule many times…and I've tried to switch things around many times; but it really hasn't made a difference; but as I was looking through God's word the other day, I came across a Bible verse; that has truly opened my eyes and has helped and encouraged me…and it's found in Proverbs 25:28, which reads… "He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls." In other words, when we don't have control over each moment that enters our lives; then like the Bible verse states…our spirits are like a city that is defenseless and broken down…without walls.
This morning, I was going through an organizer that I have sitting on a side table in my office…and over time, I noticed that it had become cluttered with so many things; that I was beginning to find it difficult to use it…and why…because I didn't control what went into it. I guess I found it to be a place to stuff everything. Anyways, as I was going through it this morning, I ended up with a stack of papers that I didn't even need to have in there, which ended up making this organizer, an overwhelming mess. In a similar way, I think that this is what we do with our lives. Satan comes along and attempts to fill our minds with this and with that; but somehow, we never take the time to sift through it all and take control of what enters our lives. Later, we come to see that by not doing this; that life just seems to get out of control and become more complicated, while even more continues to enter and flood a defenseless mind and heart. You see…when we don't practice self-control; that is when Satan has the ball in his court, which means that he can use anything to control us…and even the day we're living in. Remember one thing…God is the One who gives us the right to choose…and what we allow to come into our day, will either make life easier or more difficult.
As I was reading this bible verse over and over again last night, I came to see why I easily get overwhelmed with a life that has drastically changed over time…and that is because I am taking hold of too many things that only clutter the heart…and because of this, my spirit becomes broken down and defenseless, which means that whatever else Satan longs to overwhelm me with…he can easily come in and do it.
Each day, we need to know when to open the door of our hearts and when to keep is closed. If we could only let God help us to discern, as to what needs to be a part of our day and what doesn't need to be a part of our day; then I'm sure that the day would be much easier to walk through.
Maybe today, you are feeling a little overwhelmed with life. Maybe the thoughts that have become embedded within your mind are only trying to overwhelm your day and take control. May I encourage you to take a little time and sift through each thought…and even each thing that is attempting to enter your day; that instead of feeling weighed down and overwhelmed with life, you may have peace…a peace that can calmly walk you through your day.
Lord Jesus, as we close this time together with you, I would ask that you would help us all to slow down and be alert to whatever may be entering our thoughts or even our day; that we may always find ourselves in sync with you, rather than being controlled by moments that are only meant to take us down. Thank you, Jesus…Amen!
Have a very blessed day…and I will look forward to another visit with you tomorrow, as we share some God inspired thoughts together, with a writing titled… "No Need to Fear."
God bless you so much!
