Hello everyone…and how is your Tuesday? Today, we are having a dreary day of rain; but as I was sitting here in my office last night, when the rain began to fall; I was thinking on how these rainy days can either bring about peace-filled moments or moments of sadness, as each raindrop has a way of reminding us, as to where we may be at the moment. For example…the rain can bring the peace we need, into a moment that can seem so overwhelming, while on the other hand, these raindrops can also become a reminder to us, of the tears that may be already falling deep within a broken heart.
You know…one thing I noticed last night, while sitting here; is that beauty can be found in a darkened sky of raindrops, when light shines through one single raindrop on the tip of a tree branch. Moments such as these that catch our eye, definitely have a way of taking our thoughts away from the dark and gloomy moments that surround us, which actually helps us to seek for more beauty that can be found in the midst of a darkened situation. In fact, it's as if our hearts crave this, after just seeing one glimpse of light, along a darkened path.
One thing we need to ask ourselves today is this… "When a rainstorm produces raindrops of tears within the heart, are we finding ourselves focusing on the darkened moments within…or are we looking for the One who can bring light into these darkened moments. In Psalm 18:28, we read… "For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness."
Just because a situation has blocked out the sunlight of God's presence within our lives; that doesn't mean that the sun will never shine again. In fact, I have come to see that if we look hard enough…we just may see a glimpse of light going in and out of these dark and cloudy moments that surround us.
There was a time in my life that I will never forget…it was a time when my husband was taking me back to the place where I grew up, so I could deal with the hurts of the past. As I rode down that long stretch of road, I began to write in my journal and place each feeling on paper…and as I did, I remember my eye catching a glimpse of sunshine passing through the clouds outside my window. One thing I noticed, was that the sun seemed to be following me, as we traveled from one mile to another; but it wasn't shining brightly; but rather, it was shining just enough to let me know it was there, which truly made me feel as if the presence of God was following along with me. From that moment on, a peace began to quiet my anxious spirit, as God and I began to travel back into the past together.
You know…a storm can truly make us feel lost in the darkness of these moments of despair; but on the other hand, I have come to see that a glimpse of light is always there, even if it isn't shining brightly. The question we need to ask ourselves right now is this… "Are we looking for that glimpse of light that can keep hope alive within our hearts or are we too busy focusing on the dark and gloomy moments that seem to be surrounding us at the time?"
We must realize that when Christ lives within us…nothing or no one can distinguish the light of His powerful presence. Yes…we may find it difficult at times to experience the light of His presence; but when we chose to look through the cloudy moments of despair; that is when the light of His presence will reflect on the tears of a broken heart and reassure us that He is still there…so seek Him with all your heart.
No matter what you may be facing right now…and no matter how long the rain has been falling down around you, may I encourage you to not just stand in the rain and suffer needlessly; but rather follow the words of Jeremiah 29:13, and remember this one thing… "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."
Lord Jesus, there can be times when these circumstances we face can keep our eyes away from you, because they are so overwhelming; but Lord, today I pray that you will help us to always remember that you can be found in the darkest storm, when we seek you with all our heart. Lord, even though the dark clouds may surround some of these people today, I pray that your presence will pass through these darkened clouds; that they may see a glimpse of your presence and know that they are never alone…Amen!!
Have a very blessed day…and may God truly bless your heart…no matter what you may be facing at this time. Take care and I will look forward to another visit with you and God tomorrow!
