Hello everyone…I hope that your Wednesday is off to a great start! As I've been sitting here, in the early hours of my day; God has been taking me back to a time in my life, when I never really knew what it was like to be loved…that is, in a real way. The only so-called love that I felt growing up, was either through sexual abuse or a dysfunctional home life. One thing I've definitely come to see over time…is that love is not selfish; but rather, love is sacrificial. In other words, true love reaches out to another person, while the person showing love lays oneself to the side.
One of my very favorite bible verses on love is found in John 15:13, which reads… "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." In other words, if people aren't willing to sacrifice themselves for another person; then the true love of God is not being seen.
Maybe today, you are sitting there and thinking to yourself; that you have never experienced a love like this. From my own experience, the word "love" can be easily taken for granted. I have truly come to see that the only kind of love that will fill the emptiness within; is one that is given as a special gift, with nothing attached…one that comes from one heart to another…one that lasts and endures through time, no matter what that love may be put through.
I don't know what you have experienced within your own life; but I remember many times when people would say to me… "I love you, Diane"…only to hurt me and walk away and break my heart. It actually got to the place where I found it difficult to trust another person's love; but then I came to experience a real love…one who chose to sacrifice his entire life for me…one who truly became the example of love in my life…and one who has loved me for many years and has never once walked away or has ever broken my heart; but instead, has drawn even closer to me through the hard times…and his name is Jesus Christ.
Maybe you are saying to yourself; but Diane, I need to feel someone's arms around me…and I need to be able to talk with them; but how can I do that, when I can't even see Jesus' face to face? I will tell you…once you have experienced the love of Jesus in your life; then you will come to see that no other worldly form of love could ever compare to His love; for it's a love that fills the emptiness within the heart and once the heart is filled with true love; then the soul is satisfied, which makes us feel as if we are being held in arms of love…a true and lasting love.
Maybe today, you have been hurt by someone. Maybe they promised to always love you; but has let you down and you are now sitting there with a broken heart. Believe me when I say…I understand! In fact, for many years of my life, I had been searching for a love that wouldn't hurt or abuse me; but one thing I came to see, was that no matter what kind of love had been shown to me over the years…nothing has ever been able to compare to the love that Jesus has shown me. I can sit here in my office with curlers in my hair and no make-up…crying my eyes out…and He never walks away; but instead, He runs to me and works through my spirit, to help and relieve me of the moments that have broken my heart.
As we close our time together today, my prayer for you is that you will give Jesus a chance…and that you will open up your heart to Him and welcome His perfect love into your heart. I also pray that you will come to experience this love that He has for you, just as I have experienced it…and that you will come to see how His love can make your life complete…Amen!!
May you truly have a blessed day with Jesus…and I will see you tomorrow! God bless!
