Hello everyone! I hope you're having a great day! Today, I thought that we would do something a little different. Last night as I began to seek God, as to what He would have me to share with you; He began to lead me to a familiar psalm…Psalm 23; so, let's begin our time together today by reading this psalm… "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2) He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3) He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4) Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5) Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6) Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."
I wonder how many of us have read this psalm; but have never really taken hold of its meaning. Last night, I decided to look deeper into Psalm 23 and this is what God opened up to me. First, I came to see how David wrote this psalm through his own experience as a shepherd, which had helped him to also see the Lord as his shepherd…One that continually cared for him and kept him safe, just as he had done for the sheep of his own flock.
Throughout this whole psalm we can see the love and caring spirit of the Lord; for He not only guides us through these difficult times; but He provides a time of spiritual restoration…a time when He renews our strength, even before leading us on into the next part of our journey with Him. I also came to see something else…and that is how the Lord brings us to quiet moments, where we can come to experience the relief that only He can give us, while being weighed down by affliction.
One thing I have truly come to see is that life is never easy as a Christian; because we are constantly facing the opposition Satan; but the Lord has promised to walk with us through the darkened valleys of despair, while sharing His love and caring spirit with us, during these difficult times.
One thing we must remember today is that even though our Shepherd may lead us beside the still waters; there will also be times when He will lead us through the troubled valleys of despair; but we must always know in our hearts that He will never abandon the sheep of His flock…and that His very best will always be there for us…no matter what; and even more, the best He does offer us throughout these times is not after the trial ends; but it's in the midst of the trial where He blesses us, even while walking in the midst of our spiritual enemy; for safety isn't found in the absence of danger…but safety is found in the presence of God.
Once we truly experience God's blessings and presence, while walking through the "valley of the shadow of death;" these will be the moments that will stick with us forever and will continue to give us the hope we need to continually press on.
Today, your circumstance may be attempting to make you feel alone and lost in the midst of these darkened valleys of despair; but you must remember that there is a Shepherd that is pursuing you with love…to keep you in the flock and close to Him, which means that you are never alone.
As we close our time together today, I pray that no matter what you're facing; that you will truly come to see the Lord as your shepherd…One who longs to love and care for you. One thing I know, when we truly come to see the Lord in this way; then we will find that we have no need of anything; for our eyes will be opened to the truth…that He is everything we need…Amen!
Have a very blessed day…and I will look forward to another great visit with you tomorrow!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
