Hello everyone…I sure hope that your day is going well! This morning, I've just been sitting here…thinking on two things. The first is how much I need God in my day, and the second thought; is how can God use me to encourage you.
You know…we all seem to experience days, when nothing seems to look good anymore. In fact, moments such as these can make us feel bound up in a dark prison cell of despair, which can make us feel as if we will never see the light of day again.
I remember so much the long days of recovery, after facing many knee surgeries. At first, it felt so good to be home and out of the hospital; but as time wore on…life just seemed to be dark and dismal. In fact, if the recovery period took more time than expected, I even found myself wondering if life would ever be the same for me again. Isn't it amazing, as to how these difficult times not only seem difficult; but also tend to drag us through life, until these darkened moments attempt to overtake us and bind us up within a deep dark prison cell of despair.
Last night, as I was sitting quietly to myself…looking through some Bible verses, God led me to a verse of hope in Psalm 107:14, and we read… "He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder."
In my office, I have a picture on the wall that shows a young boy being led out of darkness by Jesus. As I look at this picture, I can feel the struggle that this young boy is going through; but I also see a strong God who is taking the boy's heavy load upon Himself, as He slowly walks him out of the darkness and into the light.
I don't know about you; but there was a time in my life when the darkness that surrounded me, made me feel too week to press on. In fact, moments such as these made me feel as if I would never walk out of those moments of darkness. I came to see that the reason for thinking this way, was because I was thinking on the darkened moments that surrounded me at the time and how weak I was too; but when I realized where these thoughts were taking me; that is when I began to cry out to God and ask Him to come and get me…and help me. From there, He broke the chains that were meant to imprison me within that darkness and now I am free…praise God!
No matter what you are experiencing today, may I come down to your level and encourage you, by saying that even though you are weak, there is One who can be strength for you…One who can break those chains that are keeping you bound up and locked up within a prison cell of despair…and all you have to do is let go of every everything except for Jesus. Once you do this; that is when the shackles of despair will fall powerless to the ground, as Jesus takes the weight of despair upon Himself and walks you safely out of the darkness and into the light of His loving presence.
Today, I pray that no matter what you may be facing; that you will come to see that freedom can be found through Jesus…One whose love for you alone can bring you out of the darkened moments of despair…Amen!
Have a blessed day…and I will look forward to our visit tomorrow!
