Hello everyone…let me ask you a question as we begin today… "Do you feel as if a circumstance has thrown you into a deep dark pit of despair…one that has brought you to a place of hopelessness?" From my own experience, these pits can make a person feel as if there will be no way out, which can attempt to make us give up altogether.
As I've been sitting here today…thinking about a deep dark pit of despair that I was once in, God has been taking my thoughts back to a Bible verse that truly helped me at that time and it's found in Psalm 40:2, and we read… "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings."
I don't know what you are feeling at this time; but I will never forget what I felt after being thrown into a pit of despair. I think the thing that I experienced the most at first was loneliness; because no one that I knew could ever understand what it was like to be thrown into something like this; and at the time, I wasn't as close to God as I am right now, so as I look back…it was just me and that pit of despair. There were many times that I tried to climb out on my own, by handling the situation my way; but the only place that I found myself, was right back at the bottom of the pit.
You know…moments such as these can cause us to see them in a way that seems so hopeless; but that is only because we are viewing the situation in the way we perceive it to be, which is never really that good. I learned that I had to stop figuring out a plan of escape and cry out to the only One who could lift me up and out of these awful moments that I found myself in. Once I did…that is when Jesus came by the pit…reached down and lifted me up and out of the pit, and steadied me, and gave me the strength to continue on…only this time with Him.
Maybe today you are stuck in a pit of despair, while standing in the muck and mire of a problem that just won't let go. May I encourage you, by saying that this isn't the end for you. Yes…it may seem that way right now; but I have a good idea as to what you are facing because I have faced these times too; but what I have also come to see and experience, is that there is hope and a way out; but it can't be done on your own. Let's face it…we may know the problem full well; but we just don't have the wisdom on our own to devise a means of escape from these problems. The only One who has a plan of escape and the only One who can make it possible is Jesus Christ. May I encourage you today, to let go of your own plans and ideas and turn to the One who already knows what to do.
As we close this time together today, I pray that no matter what you may be facing…and no matter how deep that pit of despair may seem to be; that Jesus will walk by that pit and lift you up and out of these moments that seem so hopeless; and may He also wrap His loving arms around you and steady you, as you continue to journey with Him…Amen!
Have a very blessed day…and ALWAYS know that God is there for you…no matter what!
God bless…and I will look forward to another visit with you tomorrow!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
