I Can't Stop Thinking About All the Bad in this World

Hello everyone…and how is your Tuesday? As I'm writing you today, it is snowing outside my office window. We haven't had as much snow this winter, so I'm beginning to think that winter will leave like a lion. No matter what may come our way, I have come to see that there is always something good that can sprout up through the bad, when we have Jesus living within us. What hope…knowing that He is in control of all things…no matter what takes place around us! Praise Him for that!
Sunday evening, while relaxing before bed, I was watching a video on YouTube from Canada. I'm sure that most of us know what is taking place in Canada at this time and how life is becoming something very different for them. Anyways…in the video, the police were surrounding a café and they were even attempting to take pictures of the people in the café. From what I watched, it appeared as though the customers and owners of that café didn't even know if the police were really the police. At one point in the video, these police were threatening to break the glass on the door, if the owner didn't open the door…and even take the owners license away from him. In the end…the police ended up leaving; but it appeared as though the people in the café were going to have to reside there until Tuesday, while some decision between the owner and the police was being made.
After watching this video, I started to head for bed and as I did, a lot of thoughts went through my mind, as to how this world is really changing drastically. Times such as these can really make us think, until these thoughts take hold of our minds and make it almost impossible to let go of them.
As I was thinking on this more, God led me to a few Bible verses in Colossians 3:1-3, and we read… "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3) For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God."
How can we control the thoughts that try to override our minds? To begin with, we definitely don't need to be shuffling along, with our eyes to the ground…absorbing all the things that are happening right before us; but instead, we should be more interested in what it going to come out of these times. In other words, instead of looking down or straight out onto all that is taking place around us, we should be alert to what is going on in the heavens. When we can see these times through God's eyes; then I believe that anxiety will be replaced with perfect peace from above. Also, we need to remind ourselves of where we're headed, rather than where we are right now…and where we feel these times might take us; for this alone will help us.
The life we seem to be walking through right now may bring hopeless thoughts and feelings to some; but when Christ lives within us; that is the hope that can keep us from imagining the very worse. In fact, the way I see it; is that we should see these times as a reason to rejoice, because life for the one who knows Christ is about to change into something much greater and better than what we could ever experience down here on earth.
You know, there are times when the pain in my body can attempt to take me down; but the thought that keeps me lifted high; is that these moments won't last forever, which to me is hope…and when we can come to truly see life in this way; then I believe that this alone can stop the thoughts that keep reminding us of a world that is truly worsening with time.
Maybe today, you feel snagged within thoughts that have only made your life seem much more miserable than what it once was. May I encourage you to stop looking into the face of these hopeless times and fix your eyes on Jesus…and where these times are leading you as His child. Also, if you haven't accepted Jesus into your heart, I would encourage you to check out the link at the end of this writing and find Him and the hope He so longs to fill your heart with, as we live in this world that seems to be so full of turmoil.
Lord Jesus, I pray for the one who is struggling during these difficult times…the one who just can't stop thinking on all the bad that is taking place around them. Lord, I pray that you will enter these moments and that you will help them to see this life through your eyes; that they may come to see how difficult moments such as these can be truly exchanged for a heart of rejoicing and peace…one that gives them hope and allows them to see that the best it yet to come…Amen!!
Have a very blessed day…and I hope that you will come back and join me tomorrow, for another great visit together with God!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
Diane
