Hello everyone…and how are you doing today? My morning is starting out a little foggy; but it doesn't matter what goes on around me; because I have a God that is greater than it all…and I give praise to Him for that today!
I don't know how your week has been going; but I think that this week for me has been one of the busiest weeks ever. You know, we can experience moments, when one thing seems to stack on top of another, until we feel as if it may all come crashing down. Moments such as these can definitely make it difficult to overcome these overwhelming moments.
As I was looking through some scripture last night; God was taking me back to a beautiful Bible verse in John 14:27…one that He has used to help me many times, and we read… "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
One thing that God has definitely shown me over the years; is that we don't have to feel that these overwhelming moments may overtake us; because there is a peace that can replace these moments and calm the mind and the raging storm within…a peace that isn't fragile like the peace the world offers us; but a peace that is ongoing…one that can instantly take us out of these overwhelming storms, to lead us along still waters.
Maybe today, you are feeling overwhelmed by life itself. After all, we are facing so many things in this world alone…let alone our own personal lives. Even though these overwhelming moments can attempt to take us down, we don't have to allow them to do so. I find that when I speak the name "Jesus," during times such as these; that a calm begins to enter the moments; that had at one time felt so overwhelming and out of control.
You know…I think that one of the reasons why these overwhelming moments attempt to take us to a place where we feel as if everything is out of control; is because we are trying to ride out the storm on our own. Every day, God is offering us a gift of perfect peace and once we choose to accept this gift and allow God to open it up within us; that is when His perfect peace begins to overtake the moments that once surrounded us with despair.
I wonder how many times we try to suffice the troubled moments with something that only brings about temporal peace? Many years back, I used to find peace in food…and even buying me something new; but you know what…I don't need those temporal things to bring me peace anymore; because I know a peace…that when sprinkled down upon me, can instantly and permanently help me through the troubled moments I'm facing.
I remember one night…quite some time back, when I had really had a full day of work. As I sat on the bed, I asked God to sprinkle His perfect peace all around me, and as I began to lay back and relax…I knew that He had heard my cry for help; because before I realized it, I had fallen asleep and was waking up to another new day.
You know…God can do so much for us; but first, we must be willing to lay aside all our thoughts, plans and ideas and allow His presence to enter these moments. Once we choose to do so; that is when the raging moments…brought about by evil, will cease to rage no more within us, as God's perfect peace leads us into quiet moments.
Today, if you are one of those who have been saying to yourself… "I just can't take one more thing;" may I encourage you to let go of every overwhelming moment and sit in the quiet and peaceful presence of God. Let His presence sooth the raging storm within and give you a new beginning…one that is filled with His perfect peace.
As we close, I pray that God will fill you with the strength you need to let go of everything but Him…and I pray that from there, you will be able to trust and believe in the One, whose peace can remove you from the weakened and overwhelming moments of life…Amen!
Have a very blessed weekend…and I will look forward to another visit on Monday!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
