Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Monday to you all! I sure hope and pray that your week is off to a great start! As we begin another new week together, my prayer today is that we will truly find a hope that we can hold to…one that can help us to keep pressing on, while walking through these difficult times…Amen!!
Saturday night, after facing a very difficult day, I decided to get alone with God and just spend some quiet moments with Him; because I have come to see that this is the greatest remedy, when life just isn't always at its best. Anyways, as I was looking through a well-marked Bible; that once was used as a survival manual in my life, I came across some powerful Bible verses in Psalm 18:6-21, which I would like to share with you today. I don't normally print out this many verses in the writings; but I felt that every one of them truly told a story to my heart Saturday night, so I would like you to receive them in the same way as I did that night, and we read… "In my distress I called upon the Lord and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. 7) Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. 8) There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it. 9) He bowed the heavens also and came down: and darkness was under his feet. 10) And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind. 11) He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies. 12) At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire. 13) The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice, hail stones and coals of fire. 14) Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them. 15) Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils. 16) He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters. 17) He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. 18) They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the Lord was my stay. 19) He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me. 20) The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. 21) For I have kept the ways of the Lord and have not wickedly departed from my God."
Sometimes we can wonder if God is even listening to us. I know that as I faced quite a bit of pain and tiredness over the weekend; it seemed as though all I could do, was to keep calling out His name…praying with all my heart for some relief; but do you know what…as I continued to do so and also read these verses from Psalm 18; it was as though He had come down from the heavens…and the deadened moments of the weekend were now suddenly coming back to life.
Just think…as our prayers enter His ear, it's as though He becomes very disturbed that one of His children is hurting. Just look at the power in these verses, as He actually steps down from the heavens, to fight the battles that are just too difficult for us to fight alone. How can we not see through these verses…the power that comes from a God who truly loves His children…a God who takes hold of us and draws us out of the troubled waters…a God who delivers us from a strong enemy.
One thing that truly caught my eye, as I finished these verses in Psalm 18; is where it says in verse 20…
"The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me." In other words, when we do what is right and pure and have not sinned by turning back from following Him; then we are rewarded, as His presence hears our cry for help and rescues us from moments that just seem too impossible for us to get through on our own.
One thing we need to ask ourselves today is this…"Are we taking God for granted?" In other words, do we just expect Him to help us…or are we turning to Him during these difficult times, by reaching out to Him for help, with a heart that believes that all things are possible through Him…and Him alone? I have come to truly see that the only way God can make our lives complete; is when we place all the broken pieces before Him…and once we can do this; that is when He truly will give us a fresh start. Saturday night, as I sat alone with God and poured out my heart before Him; that was not only my way of reaching out to Him for help; but these moments also made me alert to His ways…and to never just take Him for granted.
Maybe today, you are sitting there…wondering if God is even listening to you. Maybe you haven't felt any response to your prayer and maybe you're thinking that He doesn't care. As you can see through these Bible verses in Psalm 18; He does truly care for all of us…and does not long to see His children hurt in any way; but the question we need to ask ourselves today is this…"Are we crying out to Him and pouring every broken moment before Him, rather than holding tightly to something we just can't fix?" We must remember that His response to our problem comes…when we first allow the cry of a broken heart to enter His ear. Are you willing to let go of everything and cry out to Him today? One thing I know for sure…as I have experienced many times; is that when we send a desperate message into the heavens, of our need for His help; that is when He will truly meet us there and crush these forces of evil that are attempting to take us down. Then from there, He will come and rescue His child from the troubled waters and will lift us to safer ground, where we can remain closely connected with Him…and this will become the moment, when we truly do feel that our lives have been put back together again, while we come to also see how God can rewrite the text of our hearts, when we are only willing to open the book of our hearts up before His very presence…Amen!!
Have a very blessed day…and I will look forward to another visit with you tomorrow! God bless!
