Hello everyone! Well, here we are on the eve of a brand-new year…and the way I see it, is that if you are where I am today; then with God's help, you have taken the first four steps towards another brand-new year!
As I was thinking on a Bible verse that would be the grand finale of our journey into another new year, God began to take me back to a very favorite bible verse of mine, which is found in Isaiah 43:19, and we read… "Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert."
You know…some people think that another new year is only the beginning of new troubles…moments that continually worsen with time. I think the reason why we think this way is because we tend to take the hardships of each year and carry them into another new year, which only becomes a reminder to us, as to what else could possibly go wrong. The thing that God has taught me over time; is that when we take the final step out of one year and enter another; then our feet should long to walk towards something new. Maybe we can see this as a sigh of relief, as one year is put behind us, to experience something new that can bring about new hope.
One thing that God was reminding me of last night that I think we all tend to forget; is that He has already been at work since the very beginning and with each moment that passes, He is working to make each moment of His master plan count for something…something that can aim us in the direction of a new dawn in heaven. Yes…He knows that some of the moments we face can take us to a dead end in life; but this God who is continually working on our behalf will continue to work and make a way through the wilderness and barren lands of despair, until our journey reaches its end in heaven.
So now, let me ask you…"Are you looking ahead to see what God's about to do or are your thoughts remaining stuck within a year that's about to end?" Why not take a look and see what God's longing to reveal to you in this brand-new year; for He has already begun and soon it will spring forth before you. Just think…God is making a way for you to enter a new season…of a new year, even before you arrive there…and there is no fear; because He is there with you right now, ready to begin something new within your life; but you will never come to see all that He has for you, until you're willing to step into this new season, of another new year with Him.
Maybe today, you have just had enough of life. Maybe you even feel that ending your life will relieve yourself of all you are facing at this time. May I first remind you; that just as God predestined our birth…He is also the one who has predestined our death…and ending your life will only allow you to experience worse times ahead. May I encourage you, by saying that I know how you feel; because there was a time in my life…about 30 years ago, when I also didn't want to live. The pain and deep heartache that I had lived with for so many years of my life was taking me down to nothing; but I did come to see that the only One who could lift me back into life and be the remedy I needed so badly, was Jesus Christ…and I don't know how many times in these past years, I have found myself praising Him, for sparing my life from hell.
As we end this journey together today and prepare to take that final step into another new year, my prayer is that you will find these words to be true within your own heart; that you may not only step into another new year; but that you will run up to Jesus…take Him by the hand and allow Him to be your close companion, as you travel and experience everything new that He longs to show you in this brand-new year…Amen!
Have a very blessed day…and I will look forward to another visit on Monday, as we begin another new year together!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
