When Overthinking Becomes a Worse Problem than the Problem Itself

3/22/2022

Hello everyone…and how are you doing today? I sure hope that your week is off to a good start! Today, I'm looking out to a dreary day; but God is reminding me that no matter how things appear to be; He is the One that can truly light up our lives…and this is what my prayer is, for all of us today…Amen!
Let me ask you something, as we begin our visit together today… "Are you standing face to face with a difficult problem right now?" If so, I want to alert you to one thing and that is this…when we find ourselves face to face with a problem; the next move, response or reaction to that problem, will either allow Satan to take us deeper into that problem or it will allow God to have the room He needs to walk us away from that problem. In Proverbs 4:23,25 we read… "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. 25) Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee." In other words, be careful what you think because your thoughts control your life.
When I was facing surgery after surgery on my knees, I came to a breaking point, where I just couldn't face one more moment of pain or any other thing…and for those of you who may be living with chronic pain; you probably know what that can do to your nerves…and even your emotions. Anyways, at a time when I didn't know God in the way I know Him now…I lashed out at Him and said… "What's next?" In other words, what did He have planned for me to go through next. Quickly, I learned to be very careful with my thoughts and especially my words; because after saying that, I found myself in a worse situation that led me to another surgery. Later, I came to see that it wasn't God striking me down; but rather, I had responded in such a way; that gave Satan permission to show me what he could do to me next. Yes…God does have control and He could have stopped what Satan was up to; but I think He wanted me to learn from this experience and come to really see what happens, when we think and speak in such a way.
There is one thing that I would like to emphasize on today…and that is how our thoughts can lead us into further difficulty or as to how they can actually lead us closer to God and all He longs to do for us; but that is up to us, by the way we think and react to a problem. Remember…"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." (I Peter 5:8) Through this bible verse, we are being reminded, as to how we need to control our thoughts…and be very careful, as to what we speak; because Satan is lurking around…looking for one negative thought or word to feast on.
Maybe today, you are facing something in your life and you have had enough of what has been taking place around you. May I encourage you with the thoughts and words that God has encouraged my own heart with…and that is to be very careful, as to what enters your thoughts and as to what leaves your mouths; because our thoughts and even our words can lead us in the wrong direction…which in the end, can increase the problem and make it even worse than the problem itself.
Lord Jesus, as we close our time together with You, I pray that you would keep us strengthened, especially while facing these difficult moments of life. Lord, keep our thoughts focused on You, rather than where these moments could possibly lead us; that we may find You to be everything…for everything we need. Amen!
Have a very blessed day…and I will look forward to another great visit with you and God tomorrow! God bless you so much!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
