A Close Connection...

10/10/2018

When we go to God in prayer, do we believe that He is listening to us? In other words, do we feel a connection at the time that says that He has taken in every word we have spoken? Are we ready for God to respond to our requests, in the way that He feels is best for us? Sometimes asking for God’s help; means that we may have to fall to the ground, before we can rise up, to the place where we should be.  In I John 5:14-15, we read…“And we are sure of this; that he will listen to us whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will. (15) And if we really know he is listening when we talk to him and make our requests, then we can be sure that he will answer us.”

As many of you already know, I have lived a long life of pain and heartache. There were many times, when I would beg God repeatedly for His help but instead of the problems getting better, they seemed to continually get worse; to the place where I felt that God had completely abandoned me. As I continued on…feeling as though this was going to be my lot in life; God began to work with my heart and thoughts. He taught me that I needed to get my eyes away from what I was experiencing at the moment and begin to seek His will through it all, rather than seeking after my own desires.

When we go to God with our needs, are we just giving Him a to-do list, of how we feel our needs should be met…without even wondering, if He even heard our prayer? Are we using God as a magician, while expecting Him to snap His fingers and fulfill our every desire, without even giving thought to what He may have in store for us? We will never come to experience a true connection with God; that allows us to share in a close relationship, when the relationship is one sided. When we go to God in prayer, about a particular need in our life; then we need to connect with God in a way that allows our hearts to feel His presence, while knowing without a doubt; that He has heard the request we have made to Him. From there, we must keep the communication lines open and be prepared, for whatever way God sees fit to meet our needs. When we can connect with God in this way; then a bond will begin to form between us and God and we will be able to live with a peace that says that my God will be there for me, until He has answered my prayer and walked me out of this moment of affliction.
