Why do we choose to fear evil, above the power of a great and mighty God? Don’t we realize that when we fear evil; then we are bowing down to it and allowing its power to continually have control over us? In II Timothy 1:7, we read… “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
When we choose to let Jesus enter our lives and live within our hearts; these become the moments, when His presence not only enters us but His power and love enters us also. As He enters the heart that we’ve opened up to Him; He instantly becomes the mighty warrior that longs to guard and protect our hearts from evil but when we choose to fear the difficult moments that stand before us; then it’s as if we have pushed God out of our hearts and made Him powerless, which only leads us to more problems.
I remember a time, when I knew that God lived within my heart but yet I never allowed Him to work in the way I should have. Instead of leaning on a power that could have lifted me above the difficult moments; I allowed doubt and fear to become weak crutches that only led me to a sudden fall. One thing I can say today; is thank God for His love and mercy. Even though I had fallen, with shattered pieces of my life everywhere; God’s great power came along and put all the pieces back together and allowed me to feel a depth of His presence, in a way that I had never known before.
Why are we choosing to wallow down to weakness, through a spirit of fear, when we have been given a spirit of power…love and a sound mind? The only way we are going to be able to truly experience peace and a calmness that can carry us through the storms of time, is when we choose to allow the One that is more powerful than any weakness, to step in and lift us above these moments of despair.
