How many times have we felt like God doesn’t understand what we are facing at the time…or maybe we get so caught up in the thought that God has truly walked away from us. Either way, I think that sometimes we don’t take the time to focus on God’s word…the word that can bring hope…and the truth that can free us…of this way of thinking.
Last night before going to bed, I was reading Psalm 139 and in verses 1-4, we read… “O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. 2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.”
Here we sit and think that God doesn’t have a clue, as to what we are going through; but yet, His word tells us that He knows us. In fact, He knows such intricate things, such as when we sit down and when we rise up…and He knows our every thought and where we are at the moment…and He even knows what we’re going to say, before we even speak it.
One thing I have come to see through my own moments of affliction; is that we tend to be the one who walks away from God…or pushes Him away, rather than the other way around. You ask me how? First of all…we can push God away from us, just by the choices we make and also the way we think and react to a problem. In other words…when we react to a problem in a negative way; then we are not only pushing God away; but we are also being drawn further into the problem. Isn’t it amazing how we can cover up our own tracks and make it appear, as if God is the one who has abandoned us?
No matter what we go through in this life; God’s word has assured us that He is there…for He is watching our every move…and if He truly knows everything about us, as stated in His word; then He surely knows when we are hurting and going through these difficult times in our lives.
