One thing I have truly come to see through the long and drawn out years of pain and heartache; is that these difficult times can actually cause us to gain Christ, in a much greater way…that is, if we are willing to see our trials in this way. In Philippians 1:21, we read… “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
These moments of affliction we experience can make us feel as if they are about to take us down, for the final time…but do we realize that we are just not seeing them, in the way that God has destined for our lives? For while we are viewing these moments, as a defeated time in our life; God is viewing them, as an opportunity to rub out the flaws and make us into a great vessel for Him…and in order for that to happen; there has to be times, when we are taken down to nothing; so Christ can rise up in our place and become everything.
After all the pain…surgeries…counseling and loss I have experienced in my life…today, I praise God because without those very difficult and trying times in my life; then I would have never been able to see how I could gain God, in a way that could be used, to do what I’m doing right now for Him.
I think sometimes, we don’t realize how cluttered our hearts can be…cluttered up with the past…our own self desires and much more; but when we allow God to use a situation in our lives, to bring us down to a place, where we learn how to be free of these things; that is when we truly gain God within our hearts…and from there; He has the space to work in our lives, in ways we could have never imagined.
Today…don’t look at your situation, as though you are headed for defeat; but rather, see it as an opportunity to be less of yourself and more like Him!
