How many times have we seen our circumstances, in a way that would bring us down to nothing? It seems like we are so focused on what the circumstance may do; that we completely bypass what can be accomplished within us…through the circumstance.
Today, I would like to share a Bible verse with you, from Philippians 1:21, which reads… “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” The part in this verse that says… “…to die is gain,” isn’t referring to a physical death but rather, a spiritual death; that allows us to die to ourselves; that we might gain Christ…and how do we do that…through moments of great loss…or through the difficult moments we face in this life.
As I look back on my life; I see the moments, when Christ took each weakness in my life and allowed it to be exchanged for something stronger…and the only way that happened, was through great moments of loss…pain and heartache. Some say that moments such as these cause a person to turn away from God; but I actually found that my circumstances actually nudged me closer to Him…and through these moments; I began to die to the ways of myself; that I might gain Christ, in a much greater way.
You know…life can be difficult at times and we can begin to see our circumstances, as though they are a plot to destroy us; but when we can look beyond these thoughts and envision a God, who is out to take failure and produce gain through it all; then we will once more begin to see that there is hope, in what we are facing at the moment.
