Only God Knows...

9/9/2018

Today, as I was thumbing through my Bible…my eye took hold of a verse in Proverbs 20:24, which reads… “Man's goings are of the Lord; how can a man then understand his own way?”

One thing I’ve often wondered; is why do we try to understand and fix our own lives, when God is the only one that knows everything about us? Here…we pray and sometimes beg God for His help; but yet we walk away from a time of prayer, to figure out our own way to get out of a problem that we really can’t resolve on our own.

Let’s just stop here for a moment and take this verse apart, in Proverbs 20:24 and see what we discover. The first part of the Bible verse states that “Man’s goings are of the Lord,” which means that the Lord is the One who is in charge of directing our steps…the only One who knows which direction life will take us.  Now…the rest of the Bible verse states… “…how can a man then understand his own way?”…which is actually saying; that there is no way that we can figure out our own problems and a life that only God understands. So…if God is the only One who knows the way that He has had planned for our lives; since the day He created us; then wouldn’t you say that we are wasting our time…trying to figure out a way of escape that will probably never work out?

I have come to see that we can stop suffering needlessly and enjoy freedom from our problems and life itself, when we are willing to first get out of God’s way and let Him work with our lives, in the way He had planned, since the day we were born.

Let’s face it…life will never be easy and we will always face struggles…challenges and most of all…moments of affliction; but at the same time, we don’t have to go beyond, what God has allowed us to go through; if only we would come to see that God is the only way; that can lead us out of these difficult moments of despair.
