Why is it that we focus our attention on a weak circumstance, when we know that it cannot save us from itself? We know in our hearts that God is greater but yet we focus on weakness instead. Why is it that we choose to walk side by side with a weak problem, rather than walking side by side with a powerful God? In Psalm 16:8, we read…“I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.”
The only way we are going to remain standing, during a moment of affliction; is when we choose to let God walk with us. When we have the Lord to turn to; then we won’t find ourselves looking in the direction of our problems. I have come to see that the moments we feel the weakest and shaken by these difficult times; is when we allow our problems to walk us into an unknown territory of darkness and what seems to be an endless feeling of despair.
This morning as I was getting around, I was feeling the after affects, from a lot of chronic pain last night. My body felt as though it wasn’t going to make it this morning and I even felt tempted to stay in bed and take a day off but you know…there was something within me that kept saying come on Diane, we can make it. As I continued to get around; I bowed my head for a moment, as a means of just letting go and within a short time, God began to enter my thoughts and say… “Diane, don’t draw from the weakness…draw from my strength.” Wow…what an eye opener that was for me! As I began to take in each word; I knew that God was helping me to find my way back to Him because instead of leaning on God; I found that I had taken hold of the weakness.
Today, we need to hold tightly to the One who can give us the strength we need, to walk through each fiery trial. When we allow God to walk through the fire with us; rather than focusing on how bad we really have it; then we won’t be shaken and drawn into further moments of despair.
