Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Monday to you all! Well…here we go again…another new week; but no matter what may stand before us; there is One who will ALWAYS be with us…to shelter us from the storms of this life…and I praise Him for that…Amen!!
One thing I wonder today…why do we choose to stand out in the midst of a storm, rather than run for shelter? In other words…why do we allow a stormy circumstance to beat us up, when we could seek refuge in a presence that can surround us with Himself…a refuge where the storm can't reach us…a refuge where we can find love, comfort and a place to rest and be safe, until the storm passes by?
Yesterday, as I was looking through some Bible verses, I came across a verse that really caught my eye, when it came to this writing; so let's read Isaiah 25:4, which says… "For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall."
As I look back on my life…I see many instances, when I had allowed the pain and deep heartache of the past to abuse me; beyond what I had already suffered. In fact…I see times, when I just sat out in the storm and let the tears of rain overtake my heart, while allowing the fierce wind of circumstance to beat me up, which only led me to moments of needless suffering.
Today, I just wonder why we make God our last resort. In other words…we hate what we're going through; but yet, we seem to allow ourselves to remain in it, rather than turning to the One who can shelter us from these moments. The reason why I bring this up today; is because there were moments in my own life, when I did the same. Instead of making God my refuge, I tried to let the problem be my place of refuge instead, which only meant that I was allowing myself to sit; in what appeared to be a broken down shack. This place in which I chose to take shelter, was really no shelter at all; for there was so much brokenness in this shelter; that it was as if the shack was about to collapse.
As I sat many times…sheltered by a problem that only allowed me to experience the side effects of the storm; a time did come, when my eyes were drawn to a better place of refuge…and as I began to sit in God's presence, rather than the presence of the problem; that is when I was drawn even closer to Him…and it was Him who provided the shelter I needed at the time, from the wind and rain of circumstance.
You know…we don't have to weather these storms alone and suffer needlessly; for there is One who is offering us a place to get away from the storm…and even this merciless world we live in; but the choice is up to us. Yes…these storms we face can make us feel overwhelmed at times; but if we could become more in tune with a God who is always there for us, rather than what is taking place around us; then I believe that our first instinct would be to run for shelter.
The one thing that has truly drawn me closer to God during the difficult times; is that He is One who can be there for me…in ways that no other can. Many times…people and even this world will make promises to us; but what happens when a storm hits. Instead of being there, in the way they first promised; they seem to be only there for themselves. I know this…because I have experienced this many times throughout my life; but do you know what…at the same time, I have come to see One who stands on His promises and is instantly available…to hold me close and shelter me from these storms.
No matter what you may be experiencing today…or no matter how much this world may be affecting your life; just know that there is a place of refuge…one that can safely surround you with a presence that can bring a calm, even while the storm continues to rage around you. Now the choice is up to you…will you choose to seek refuge in God…or will you continue to suffer needlessly in the storm?
Have a very blessed day…and ALWAYS know that God is there for you…to surround you with a presence that can keep you safe and secure from the storms of this life…Amen!!
God bless…and I will hope to be with you again tomorrow!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
