Last night…before going to sleep, I began to quietly pour my heart out before God…and as I did; thoughts began to fill my mind and this is what I wrote down… "The lights always seem to go out, when a circumstance hits me head on…a circumstance whose only aim is to keep me walking through moments of darkness…and from there, I seem to always say… "Where are you God…and why is the light of your presence being hidden from me? Are you still there?"
You know…I'm sure that we all have…or are experiencing moments in our lives, when one problem seems to follow after another. After walking down these darkened paths; we can find ourselves at a place where we truly wonder where God is.
As I've been sitting here…focusing on this; God took me to Psalm 13…a chapter in the Bible that had at one time been used by God, to become a lifeline for me to hold to…and we read…"How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2) How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? 3) Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, 4) and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall. 5) But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. 6) I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me."
You know…I think that the reason why we feel hidden from the light of God's presence; is because we are focusing on our problems…to the place where these problems become a wall between us and God…a wall that seems to block out the light of a powerful presence…that once shown down upon our path.
When I first read this chapter in the book of Psalms…I came to see that even though King David was so weighed down by what was taking place in his life at the time; he did come to a place, where he was able to look back and remember all the moments that God had been good and faithful to him…which ended up being his lifeline of hope to hold to once more.
The encouragement that I would like to give you today; is to focus more on the goodness of God and how faithful He has been in times past. God is there…but in order for us to actually see and experience His presence; we must focus on thoughts that will remind us of His goodness…and once we do; that is when the walls will come down, which will give way once more to the light of a powerful presence…One whose presence alone can illuminate these darkened paths and set us free.
Have a very blessed day…and ALWAYS know that God is there for you!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
