As the struggles of this life become more real with each passing day; we can find it hard to press on. Life has a way of hiding the bright and sunny moments…only to exchange them for darkened moments that seem to take our thoughts into the storm that appears to lie before us.
Lately, it seems as if I have felt a little overwhelmed by the chronic illnesses I face…along with the early summer heat, which can attempt to take me down to a level that makes it difficult at times to keep my head afloat and in touch with God. We all seem to have moments such as these; that can make us feel as if the storms of time are about to overtake us; but God continues to take me back to a verse in Matthew 24:13, which reads… "But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." I believe that God's message through this verse is coming from a heart of love…One that longs to encourage us to never give up. You know…sometimes I think that our minds can be so connected to this world; that we forget that being a Christian…or even serving God isn't going to be easy. Yes…God is there for us…and He is a sustaining God; but at the same time, there is Satan…and he is out to destroy the lives of those who have given themselves completely to Christ. As I have journeyed with God for many years, I have come to see that life can lead us down different paths…some may be sunny and bright, while others may appear as if a storm is brewing on the horizon. As these storms arrive…ruts can form in the path that is leading us in the direction of Heaven, which can make the journey very difficult to walk down. In fact…moments such as these can make it seem as if there is no end in sight, to what is taking place at the time. Even though the journey can seem hard and long; we somehow know that we must continue on…for if we don't; then we won't reach our destination, which is Heaven. You know…I have truly come to see that when we can press on through the hard and difficult times of life; that moments such as these become a message from our hearts to God…a message that says that we are truly committed to Him…no matter the cost. When we can continue to focus on Him and our final destination in Heaven; that is when I believe that we will always have the determination to press on. No matter what we may go through in this life; we will never find eternal peace and freedom from these moments, when we choose to sit down and give up. Even though the steps may be difficult to take…we must remember that these are the steps that are going to take us right into Heaven…for all of eternity; so keep pressing on…for the one who endures to the end, will be saved.
