For quite some time, I have held a specific Bible close to my heart…and as I read the words that once had taken hold of me…many years back, along with notes that were jotted down and held within its pages; I am once more being transported back to a time in my life, when I was weak and frail spiritually…a time when fear overtook my heart, due to such overwhelming circumstances. Even though the moments of the past made me feel at rock bottom…God didn't see it that way…and from there, He began to take verses from this Bible and minister to my heart…and one of the verses is found in Isaiah 41:10, which reads… "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
The part of this verse that truly took hold of me; is where it says… "for I am thy God." I would say that these words just about sums up the whole verse and especially the meaning of what God wanted me to take hold of at that time. Just think…we don't have to fear anything or be dismayed…for God is God. In other words…He is all we need, while facing the times that attempt to spell out defeat. We don't need any other thing to help us through the troubling times but God…so I ask…why are we searching for something that we already have?
One thing I can say to you today; is that I have truly found God to be my complete source of everything. In other words…I don't look to money or any other resource, to cure what is broken within; because I have come to see that He is it…the one that can work in ways that I thought could never be.
Over the years, I have learned that we wrestle with unsettled feelings and fear because we haven't been convinced that God can do it all. In other words…it seems like we only spew out words that attempt to convince ourselves that we do believe in what He can do; but from there, we need to ask ourselves; do we really believe in those words we speak…or have these words only become words that are easily spoken, with no real meaning behind them.
The only way that we are going to be able to overcome fear and the unknown, while facing a trying time in our lives; is when we truly come to see that all we need is God. Just think of the weight that can be lifted from our shoulders, just by choosing to let go of every worrisome thought, plan and idea…to take hold of God and the plan that He's had all along for our lives.
We must remember that speaking words alone isn't what helps us; but rather, it's a heart of belief that truly allows the need to leave the heart and journey to a God who can exchange weakness for strength and fear for a settled feeling…a feeling that can help us to calmly face our foes.
As we close this time together, can we say that we believe that God is all we need…or are we choosing to search for some other cure…something that may never be?
Have a very blessed day!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
